Now that opening title is a bit of a strange statement. After all the nature of being part of the worlds most popular Massively Multiplayer Online game World of Warcraft like I am means that nothing I do is significant.
My last play session just yesterday saw my level 63 holy priest acquire a new achievement “Completed 500 quests”. With the adulation of my guild friends and a flurry of “Gratz” I had a beaming smile.
Less than 24 hours later I read on MCV that the games lead designer Jeffrey Kaplan at this years GDC announced that between July 2007 and March 2009 a total of 8,570,222,426 quests have been completed in Azaroth. This works out that there is enough activity in the game that 16 million quests are completed each and every day!
As if that wasn’t enough to make me feel small, Kaplan also added that there are now 7,650 quests available to players when including The Burning Crusade and Lich King expansions.
So with years into my second life in Azaroth, I’ve only scratched the surface. I have to wonder how far I’ll be into the content before the next big MMO switch happens.
