Fantastic interview. I am one of the “niche” customers and have been a loyal customer of SCS for some years now, from 18 Wheels of Steel – American Longhaul, through Euro Truck Simulator, Extreme Trucker and now UK Truck Simulator. I used to drive trucks (artics) in the UK for real as a part time job. However, my day job (pays over three times as much, much less than one third the fun!) got in the way so I had to give it up. These games keep me sane! It is excellent to know there are people out there willing to struggle to produce niche titles like this without the carrot of huge financial rewards.
Sadly, until I invest in a new PC, I am likely going to have to part company from SCS for a while. Technically, UKTS shouldn’t run on my machine – I only have a 128MB ATI Radeon X600 graphics card. For most of the time, the game plays just fine, but quite often when things get busy I find myself limping round roundabouts at about 2 frames a second. It says a lot for the game, however, that I have persevered through these times.
Congratulations SCS – wishing you much success for the future!
