So stamp collecting…. It’s one thing I didn’t think there would be an app for but as always with Apple devices, there is. Step forward Stamp Art Fever. In this game you are an art-stamp collector continuously searching for new pieces to add to your collection, competing with other collectors all over the world for the most valuable collection.
Currently there are two books of stamps to collect for and within them are different categories ranging from sports to space to toy cars. Starting at experience level one, you are given 120,000 coins to start off your collection using several different ways to obtain the stamps you have always wanted. The obvious place is the shop, where you can buy single stamps or in packs. You can also purchase protection for them from robbery as well as insurance or even a strongbox.
You can also take advantage of Black Market Auctions and even take part in a lottery for stamps. Beware of the black market as I’ve fallen foul of fake stamps, but if you are lucky you could pick up a hidden gem. The game is enlivened by events, such as theft, which could slow down your career, but at the same time one stamp could net you a huge windfall, I netted 25,000 coins for just one stamp only the other day.
It doesn’t take long for you to run out of coins so it’s good that you can sell stamps on to make more money. The game does rely on micro-transactions; you can purchase more coins in the shop to help you build up that collection. You are constantly competing against of collectors around the world, through challenges as well as through Game Center achievements.
The overall presentation of the game isn’t brilliant, I struggled to read some of the text as it was just too small and the general user interface of the game feels very clunky, on the plus side a lot of the stamps look great. If building up collections is your thing, you are probably going to enjoy this, there are plenty of ways to build your collection and there are also the competitive elements too, otherwise its probably worth avoiding, like it’s real world counterpart it’s has niche appeal.
