Around 365 days ago the Midlife Gamer Community decided that Uncharted 2 was their top game of 2009 and now its time once again to put on your voting hats and decide which are your favourite games of 2010, and boy there’s been some great games this year.

Also this year the voting is bigger and better, not only do we want to hear what you favourite games but for the more seasoned Midlife Gamers we want two more nominations from you. Your favourite moment from the podcast and we also want to hear examples of members of the Midlife Gamer going ‘balls deep’.

So thats it! Or is it?

When you make your top 5 game nomination, you will automatically be entered once into a prize draw with the winner getting either:

2100 Microsoft Points, or

A £20 PSN Gift card, or

A Steam Gift Purchase up to the value of £20

Here’s how it works…

All games taken into consideration must have been released as a full retail or digital download title on or after 1st January 2010.

Nominations are to be submitted to us by sending an email to admin@midlifegamer.net. What you need to include in the email is:

a. Who are you?

b. We want to know your top 5 games of 2010, ranked in order. Each place will be given a points allocation (detailed below) and we will add up all the nominations to determine the Midlife Gamer Top 10 games of 2010. Along with your nomination please let us know what you influenced your game choices, ideally a short statement explaining why each game made it into your top 5. Here’s how they’ll be scored:

Your favourite game of 2010 – 10 points

2nd – 5 points

3rd – 3 points

4th – 2 points

5th – 1 point

The remaining submissions are purely optional but will score you additional entries into the competition for each section you submit your nomination.

.

c. We’d like you to choose a particular favourite moment from the podcast this year. With a whole years worth of podcasting to choose from surely you are spoilt for choice. This year has included the Eurogamer special, the 100th Episode and discussions on games both great and terrible without forgetting of course the countless moments of irreverence and off-topic hilarity! But what was your favourite moment?

There’s never been a better time to listen back and let us know what floated your boat!

d. Finally we love to celebrate the things our community get up to, this is your chance to nominate a fellow community member who has in your mind demonstrated the essence of the Midlife Gamer philosophy and gone ‘balls deep’, what this means is entirely up to you and we look forward to what everyone comes up with.

Wait.. there’s more!

Do you have a Twitter account? Yes? Awesome!

So after all the planning, organisation and many late nights we come to the end of our epic Eurogamer Journey, and who better to round things up than the original Midlife Gamers themselves Matt & Daren. We take a walk around the show floor and check out some of the other titles on show, well that is until Daren decides to go on the hunt for some Eurogamer hotties, I’m sure you can guess what happens but if you can’t don’t worry the answers are just a single click away!

So go ahead and enjoy Midlife Gamer goes to Eurogamer Expo 2010 Part 3! (No ladies were hurt in the making of this video)

And that’s all we have for this year, I tried to put across an idea of what Midlife Gamer is from the personalities of the podcast to the fantastic content on the site and of course the amazing community that Midlife Gamer has, so if you have liked this digg it, leave comments, ratings and retweet so we can get more views and maybe find Daren a lady friend.

So until next time Midlife Gamers, it’s been emotional!

Then let me duly oblige! Part 2 of the official Expo video trilogy!

So you sat down and watched part 1 and now your back for more? Well firstly allow me to congratulate you on making the correct decision, as not only in this part do you get to hear more from our lovely community, but also we look at some even sexier upcoming titles!

First up in Part 2 is the first person shooter from the team who helped produce such FPS heavyweights as Quake, Wolfenstein and Counter-Strike, now teaming with Bethesda, Splash Damage bring us Brink and Xero and Rich Birkett tell us what they think of it.

Not content with just playing Brink Xero and Rich then head off to a special early preview of Mythical RPG The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, we take a look at the game and have a chat with some of the developers from CDProjekt.

And finally we have what is now common place online, and despite how many times you see it, the vision of Matt and Daren hitting ‘FREESTYLE’ on Kinect’s Dance Central surely still brings a knowing smile to the face of all but the most hardened Midlife Gamer.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVM664Qqlns

And there we have it, we have hit the half way point in out Eurogamer journey and in part 3 we leave it to Daren to bring us home as he and Matt take a trip around the show floor exploring all the lovely games and lovely ladies that Eurogamer had to offer. Look out for the finale to Midlife Gamer goes to Eurogamer 2010 coming soon…

As some of you may have been aware Midlife Gamer recently paid a little visit to the capital and to the Eurogamer Expo, and I was there to document it all with my trusty camera and Midlife Gamer Microphone!

Over the past week I have spent many late coffee fuelled hours gathering all the footage we took and arranging it into a coherent order. Headlined by your faithful podcasters Matt & Daren and flanked by their trusty sidekicks Xero and Rich Birkett, I bring you in 3 parts ‘Midlife Gamer goes to Eurogamer’.

Coming up we look at new games, new technology, and as many of you will have seen, lots of dancing (if you haven’t yet you’re in for a treat!), but also lets not forget the fantastic community turnout, if you wanted to put a face to the forum posts now is your opportunity as various community members will be showing up all the way through.

In part one Daren looks at Rock Band 3, Matt talks about new and exciting technology with the guys from Special Effect and Rich Birkett chats to Tom Champion the gaming and community manager of Eurogamer.

Anyway as you have clicked this link you are looking for the video and who am I to argue? So let’s go balls deep with ‘Midlife Gamer goes to Eurogamer’ Part 1….

Extra! Read all about it! Trailer-Gasm! 16 is here for your viewing pleasure!

We had quite a lot of great trailers this week and narrowing them down was a difficult decision, but I think I managed to get a nice balance of gaming genres, and not an 18 certificate in sight!

So go get comfy, grab a beer and take your trousers off, or however you like to enjoy your weekly Gasm and let’s get down to business!

For 360 and PC owners this first little title looks rather interesting with the kind of dark sense of humour that you get when you cross the Joker with Road Runner, and so it seems the decent time to introduce this title, well to be more specific its a Bloody Good Time.

Now this next title has been shown before but now we get a more extended look at Kirby’s Epic Yarn and if you can sit there watch this trailer and not find a smile creep across your face then you my friend are too tough for your own good!

The PSP has often been the hardcore gamers hand held device of choice and one of the reasons for this is due to the range of games offered often catering more to the adult audience and this next title follows that ideal with Ace Combat Joint Assault.

If military gaming is your cup of tea and you haven’t had your fill with the last game then maybe you can get another dose with the next title, this one is set in World War II and you can take on a role in the US Army or the German Blitzkrieg, this title is R.U.S.E.

Now when a trailer like this next trailer pops up, it’s worth a look, not due to the trailer itself but because it’s called The Next Big Thing!

If there was ever a movie tie game which could surely never fail then this next trailer could be it, after all it is basically a game anyway, Tron Evolution: The Video Game.

And here we are at our last title, rather than introduce it I’ll let the trailer do it for you, after all it involves Keiji Inafune introducing the first gameplay footage of the upcoming Megaman Universe.

And that’s about it, Trailer-Gasm! will be taking a break for a few weeks now whilst I prepare a special little something for all you lovely Midlife Gamers out there, but don’t worry it will be back before you know it, so until then Goodbye!

Trailer-Gasm! 15 is just begging to be watched!

I’m back, right here, right now with a brand new episode of Trailer-Gasm! bringing you some of the best trailers of the last 7 days, on this weeks Gasm-tastic menu we go back in time with Atari, we look at a new rival to the Assassin’s Creed franchise and head back in for some more dragon action… So lets get on with it shall we?

Think of the most trailblazing games of all time, I’m not talking about the first games to use polygons instead of pixels I’m talking about the kind of games which first made games fun, games like Pong, Tetris and Tempest, chances are the very games you are thinking of are all bundled together for your uber-retro loving selves in Atari Greatest Hits Vol. 1 heading to Nintendo DS this November.

Now if your not getting enough of a space-shooting fix from your consoles with Portal, Gears of War, Killzone, Halo, Singularity among others then perhaps you might like to have a wander over to your PC in the corner and head over to Steam and take a look at Shattered Horizon.

We head back to Atari for our next title, demonstrating the extensive ‘wardrobe’ of the lead character, heading to XBLA, PSN and PC this month its ultra stylised cartoon caper Blade Kitten. Next up is a title which simply can’t hide away from the game it is trying to emulate, that of Assassin’s Creed, ranging from templars to swords to leaps of faith, this title has it all but will it be enough to topple the Ubisoft juggarnaut? Only time will tell, out for 360 and PC early 2011 its The First Templar.

Dragon Age: Origins was only released in November and the latest DLC is only weeks old but already we have had the announcement for a sequel and now here we have the trailer, battling its way to our consoles in March 2011 its Dragon Age II.

So five trailers and 10 minutes later and we are all wrapped up for another week, with new trailers and announcements every week I’m sure there will be plenty more trailers fighting over a place in next weeks episode, so until then have a great week and a great Trailer-Gasm!

Got 10 mins to spare? Then lets have a Gasm!

Bonjour, G’day, Howdy and hello to all you faithful Gasm lovers out there and hello to any newbies too, settle down relax and get ready for your Trailer-Gasm! initiation.

I’ve tried to tick all the boxes this week, offering a little survival horror, a little MMO and not to mention a big old dose of some familiar faces and some innovative platform gaming.

Well what are you waiting for? Oh right you want to know what’s in store? Well allow me to happily oblige you…

Gaming has been littered with successful partnerships, Banjo & Kazooie, Sonic & Tails, Mario & Luigi to name but a few, however we have had very few successful quads… Until now, doubling its numbers from 2 to 4 its Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, offering 4-player co-op for the very first time.

Now personally I am a huge fan of the old style platformer, sit me down with a 2D Mario, Sonic or Little Big Planet and I will be gone for hours which is why this next title really took my fancy, we often look here at titles for XBLA & PSN and now its time for WiiWare to get some love, here it is with And Yet It Moves.

What I like about this next trailer is its honesty, like many sequels its happy to quote the fantastic comments lavished upon it but this title is also willing to tell us what’s wrong with the original which would appear to be the lack of multiplayer, so coming soon, with multiplayer its Torchlight II.

Heading back to Nintendo and the Wii comes the title which majority of Wii owners have been waiting to see since the launch of the Virtual Console (now WiiWare), there were many rumours, whispers and inevitable denials but at E3 this year it was confirmed, heading to Wii as a full title this year is Goldeneye 007.

The news has been rife recently with more abuse thrown at the gaming industry due to the rumoured content of the upcoming Medal of Honor, now games down the years have consistently caused uproar for their content and in 2003 one game embraced the controversy with its tagline “Banned in 13 Countries”, that game was Postal 2 and this week we take a look at the trailer for the sequel, Postal 3 which promises to keep the careful balance between humour and ultra-violence.

The final trailer this week is a PC title (although rumours are a 360 port is on the way), for those of you who haven’t had enough of an apocalyptic alien shooter fix yet from the likes of Lost Planet and Gears of War then maybe this could be right up your street, with a trailer which has left this Trailer-Gasmed viewer wondering what’s going on its The Scourge Project.

And that’s all I have for you this week, I’ve given you 4-way platforming, American Hockey mom tasering and lets not forget the trip down memory lane with Goldeneye, but that’s it for now, but fret not the next episode is just around the corner I have more great Trailers than I can shake a stick at so until next week its goodbye from me and goodbye from…. erm… well just me!

What are you waiting for?

Has it been a week already? Well here we are again with yet another great set of trailers and publishers this week have outdone themselves with a fantastic selection ranging from flying with blimps to fighting with monsters, yes it really is that diverse so here we go and I’ll kick off with a trailer I’m very excited about…

Teaser trailers are my favourite kind of trailer, they give you enough information to get you excited but not too much that answers any questions you might have and this first trailer is one of those, after the gargantuan success of Bioshock and its follow up Bioshock 2, Irrational Games (developers of the original title) had to decide where next to take the series and they decided the only way is up, quite literally as we enjoy Bioshock Infinite.

Now I’m not a great fan of games set in mythological worlds and I can’t say I’m familiar with the Might & Magic franchise, but I do love a good little trailer which is what has been served up with the - as Ubisoft have said - brand new ‘remastered’ Might and Magic Heroes VI.

Now I tend to avoid where possible games based on TV shows and films (although I did play and love Lost: Via Domus - Although I think that was more due to Lost than the game) because for every Goldeneye you can expect 10 games like Disney’s UP, however being the avid podcast listener that I am when this trailer popped up I thought it deserved including, its CSI: Fatal Conspiracy.

Now I think its fair to say that as flops go, Tony Hawk’s Ride was fairly near the top of the list, up there with the Sega CD and Waterworld and yet it would appear it did find an audience, it would just appear that audience is not willing to admit who they are. Tony Hawk: Shred will again utilise the skateboard control system developed for the original and from looking at the bright colours and arcade style of play perhaps they are directing this title toward the younger audience.

Now finally we have a developer diary for much anticipated title from the guys who brought us Fallout 3, set in a post-apocalyptic world where you must fight on the side of good or… sound familiar? Who cares it looks incredible! Its Brink!

And once more we are out of time, well YouTube dictates that we are out of time and they are bigger than me so who am I to argue? We’ll be back next week with more trailers for you to enjoy so until then, have yourself a great Trailer-Gasm-ing week!

Its Trailer-Gasm time people!

Hello and welcome to the Trailer-Gasm! 12, we have a bumper packed episode with no less than 6 trailers for you to take a looksy at, so lets skip all the foreplay and get straight into the new Trailer-Gasm!

Our first trailer comes from the guys who brought us The Sims, the follow up to their 2008 title Spore, its Darkspore which offers a more, well, darker tone. Now sometimes with games like Darkspore I can write an introduction without too much thought, however sometimes its a bit trickier, as is with this next title, Bug Ball is a difficult game to describe but it looks like buckets of fun!

Now here at MLG we are partial to the odd MMO and its always good to see another just around the corner, which is where we bring you the mythological MMO Mythos.

Now the next title we have looked at before but I liked this trailer so much I had to take another look, its the return of the much loved franchise Medal of Honor.

Next up we have a driving double bill, first is a title heading onto PC, XBLA and PSN, with a combination of destruction derby and many arcade racers its Fuel Overdose, and following that is the upcoming third installment of the Colin McRae franchise Dirt 3.

And finally we have the return of a perennial favourite after lets face it, too long away from our gaming screens, appearing on its spiritual home PC and looking all shiny and new its Worms Reloaded.

And thats it for now, time for the proverbial cigarette methinks and don’t forget to look out for next weeks episode of Trailer-Gasm!

Well here you go!!

Well now after leaving Trailer-Gasm! is the very capable hands of Mr. Matthew Moore last week I am back with another new episode of everyone’s favourite Gaming-Trailer-based-compilation-video-series and the latest dose of Gasm-tastic gaming goodies. This month we have a variety of trailers ranging from gun toting, gymnastic thugs to arm swinging ball kicking moms, so lets start the ball rolling…

Now when I look for trailers they generally fit into 3 catagories, the 100% gameplay trailers, the cinematic story based trailer and then there are the trailers which are almost shortfilms and I think this first trailer falls into the latter catagory, although it offers little information into what the game will become, the trailer for Megaman Universe is just a balls out great little trailer!

Universes seem to be the latest craze, with Megaman having its own universe and DC doing the same, its time for Lego to jump on the same bandwagon, Lego Universe will be an MMO which sets the player the task of protecting Imagination from dark forces, Lego Universe launches in October for the PC and Mac.

Now Kinect may not have wowed audiences like the 3DS or looked as cool as Playstation Move but darn it, I can’t help but smile when I watch the cheesiest of cheesy families flailing their extremities about like wild chimpanzees as they play one of the launch titles for this new motion control technology Kinect Sports, and I can’t deny that secretly I too want to flail about in the same way, just bring down the price first!

With E3 just behind us and the annual list of awards handed out we now begin to see games using these awards and nominations in their advertising, demonstrating this is Shank, which was nominated for, Best Downloadable Game , Excellence in Visual Art, Best New Game, Best Action Game, making definately a title worthy of your notice, so without any further ado coming to XBLA and PSN in August its Shank.

Now for that knock out blow, clearly Capcom weren’t happy with simply pitting its team of Street Fighters against the super heroes of Marvel as they seemed determined to pit their wits against every fighting franchise around, which is why we can all get excited and giddy at the prospect of Street Fighter X Tekken.

And with that I bid you adieu, enjoy you games and enjoy your Gasm! I’ll be back next week so look out for your next fix of Trailer-Gasm! coming soon.
