Didn't see a thread for this game, so thought I'd go balls deep and start one! My pre-order has been placed and fingers crossed that I get it on release day. This game is getting top mark reviews. Im a big bats fan, loved the first one (Aside from one or two naff boss battles) and well juiced for this.

Anyone else?

Planning on hitting HMV this Friday, getting me some 99p action with the aid of a copy of RAGE (enjoying it, especially MUTANT BASH TV, but taking a sabbatical till I pick it up again on the cheap).

Incidentally, if you plan on doing the same, go and preorder it before Friday with your copy of RAGE.  You will need to hand that in when you do the preorder BUT do it this way and you get the 99p deal and also the HMV exclusive comic and  t-shirt as well (at least that's what the nice cashier told me this morning).

Game for Friday sorted and something nice to wear on the weekend.  Ker-ching!

NOTE TO LETHAL G-Man – We will get a match going on FIFA 12 someday before FIFA 13 comes out.  Sorry for being 'Captain Evasive' but only getting on during early eve at the mo.

First game is well worth it, DrunkRogue.  Wasn't flawless but damned well near it.

Been toying with idea of getting this. Friend got it at walmart last night and said its amazing stuff, but reading such good things about the first one in GOTM and i never did get the first one. Just played that challenge room demo over and over! I clearly see $60 flying out the wallet on uncharted in 2 weeks, so i think a knackered preowned game of the year edition of asylum will have to do for now.

Does anyone else get this with their wife/husband/kids…if i spend $120 on games, they feel cleared to do a fkin price match and go spend 120 on clothes, dvds etc. So for me, $120 on games basically equals $240

Im kinda the stingy one between us, but this time of year bends me over because i always want a few AAA games, which ends up costing $400 on various spontaneous crap which, had i not bought a few long awaited games, we would not have got!

Should have a got kind of gamer contract built into my wedding vows.

Got it last night.

So far, so awsome. My only minor gripe is that I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by all the things you can do in this game right off the bat (no pun intended). Wow! Check out all the Batgear I get right from the start!

I'm debating about trying to complete the main story first, and then saving all the side stuff for when they sell a complete pack of Batman skins.

I don't know. So many options!!!

If you haven't played Arkham Aslylum though, I would recomend saving your money on City and playing the older game first.

It's in my top three favorite games for this console generation. Use the first game to get used to using all the Bat Toys.

That way when you start playing City, you'll know how to use all the stuff in your arsinal right from the get go.

Loved the first game, so tempted to get this, usually get games when they drop in price, but this is a tippping point. If i can sneak it pass the misses (same problem as Dan), we will have to see.

So how would you say it compares? I kinda enjoyed the first but didn't understand the adoration it got from many people. It was a solid, if repetitive beat 'em up. The fact you get some gadgets early on is a good thing as technically batman would probably have them straight away but, more importantly, I want to muck about from the start and not wait 4hours in to get some new super-duper bat-o-mallet.

From what early players have posted, sounds like a much less linear beginning to this one.  More of a sandbox feel.  One thing that is really great about these games tho is their respect of the Batman lore – Characters are closely linked to their comic based counterparts and not simply cardboard characters in the games.

Looking forward to getting my hands dirty on the streets of Arkham City…

Well, I figured out the environmental puzzle and got out of the room.

And it wasn't fair puzzle at all so I'm going to give a hint.

Don't stand in front of the door when you release the electric hounds.

I think that's not too spoilery.

That said, still loving the game. Now I'm playing cat woman again and my minor grip is the learning curve on her new tech. I kind of feel like I need to look at the controls map each time I get a new upgrade.

THIS IS A VERY TECH HEAVY GAME!

Very tempted with this one but what’s the deal with the main story and side missions? I.e. are the side-missions in depth or just a case of go here, solve riddle and done?

The side missions i've come across so far are quite varied and some can take a bit of time to complete, basically you can have several objectives on your side mission list at once. On top of that you have collectible riddler trophies, penguin statues and balloons to burst – thats what i;ve come across so far. Some of the riddlers puzzles are tricky too.

Does anyone know how to unlock the skin, i was given a code from shopto but no idea where i go to redeem it.

cheers,

steam

figured it out, psn store > redeem code. Unfortunatly you can't use the skin in the main game until you complete it which sucks.

Around two hours in and there seems to be loads of things to do/collect. All the different combat button combos and gadgets might take a bit of getting used to, but the controls are tight and the free flow combat is as good as ever. Gonna take my sweet time with this one and soak up all the content (like the character bios). Uncharted 3 will just hav to wait.

Some many great games, so little time! Something will have to give.

I'm stuck though, trying to get into the building where Mr Freeze is – any help, PM me x

I'm a couple of hours in (just doing the 2nd cat woman mission).

So far so good, I don't know if it's the hangover, but some of the Riddler puzzles don't seem to make any sense, however I might just need other equipment later in the game.

Without spoilers, does anybody know if there's a environment changing event like in the first ?….I don't want to miss out on any puzzles I can't get back to later ?
