Ive picked it up on the xbox..im a few hours into the game and do you know what…im loving it..the world its set in is great and the graphics look great. Its got the whole level up,exp, rpg thing going on so it seems already to have a bit of depth to it.Ive no problems with the controls at all and ye..im surprised how much im loving it.I already prefer this over Deus Ex because its just so much fun and while i was playing on my own a message comes up telling me that theres another player nearby…do i want to join him and play coop with him..nice touch…so i did about 30 mins with him before he left..so id say its really good..well worth buying and its fun..lots of fun.

Spent a few more hours with it this afternoon and I’ve just started Act 2 which has the whole Day of the Dead vibe going on. The fetch quests are getting tiresome (mostly because the map for Act 2 seems too liner compared to Act 1) but I’ve unlocked new perks (focusing on combat and survival fields) and I’ve found an amount of guns that I sold on for decent money. It’s a shame you can’t combine weapons to repair them (ala Fallout) since I have a million and one clubs.
Had a few WTF encounters with running zombies, not sure if they’re supposed to be like that or if the game is punishing me for playing solo (ala Left 4 Dead) but having a gang of them swarm you is pretty much guaranteed death, un-death, or whatever. I think the main bug for me is that there is little to demonstrate you rescuing any other survivors. The Dead Rising games had an ever filling safe house so by the end of the game you could see all the people you had rescued (and feel all warm inside) but while I have helped out some people wanting to get to the safe house I don’t seem to be able to see them there afterwards so they can thank me with cash and a handjob.
Molotov’s rock by the way

ShopTo delivers once again!
Which character did you pick? I went for the average all-round guy but I’m wondering if the gun chick has access to more firearms earlier on in the game. Act 2 seems to be playing mind games with my save file (hate this auto save by the way) in that I loaded it up to find that one main quest has been completed, two sub-quest undone, a rather powerful pistol removed and a powerful brass knuckle put in its place! Not sure what on earth that is all about as I’ve been flying solo all the way.

shopto aswell..im rollin the gun chick and yet ive no guns at all and have not seen any and im 4 hrs into the game.Im rollin with a levelled up baseball bat and meat cleaver..with a few molotovs for good measure.Im not finding it hard though and can wade into loads of the undead without getting hurt.Im well into chapter 2 and been and done the petrol stations and lighthouse stuff.Had no probs with the saves and it seems to be doing a good job..saving alot and at the right times..As for missing weapons its happened to me but i think i lose the weapons when i pick something up and it swaps them over..done that a few times…just watch that.Done abit of co op but mainly going solo..probably better rockin with a few mates though.

Got some rather generous trade ins from my local Asda (God bless Wal-mart…at least today anyway) so, with their Dead Island price of £32 ended up spending some of my retrieved game cash – xbox 360 too.
Will be trying it out in earnest this evening whilst the wife is off keeping fit so maybe catch up with some of you fine MLG-ers later?…

WARNING ALL PS3 USERS: in true Techland fashion the latest patch which was supposed to fix a load of problems on release actually causes a few more, in this case some patched gamers are reporting their progress, collectables, weapons etc all being reset to zero. The real kicker is that the bugs that were supposed to be fixed are still there!
Have yet to patch it myself, think I will complete the game first then patch it before a second playthrough, Techland are already working on a patch for the patch. No idea is this affects 360 users too.

Interestingly, having decided to pick this one up on xbox, didn't have any patch to install on booting the game up yesterday so can only assume xbox patch not yet released. Thanks for the heads up though, Defiant Biscuit, have got the feeling that any patch probs for the ps3 will probably also be present on other formats so I will also hold out before installing if I can…

the voice acting is poor like but i can overlook that. the whole multilayer thing excites me too
just give me a shout if youre wanting to play with a cautious mackem who searches for every item and goes round corners second

I've been playing with Disco, Baron and Hunter and the multiplayer is awesome! + minor squeals from me too.
But as soon as i start doing single player its a whole different experience, i feel much more cautious of what and where im going, i don't go running in balls deep i kind of tactically figure a way out

Edge review today gave it a 3, most of the stuff they highlight does sound pretty gamebreaking so think I'm gona give it a miss now. Apparently the day one patch doesn't fix any of the stuff they found broken either :-(
Edge can suck my balls!! I canceled my subscription with them yesterday after they didnt send my mag almost 2months on the trot!!! I feel that they are the diva's of the game press and they just go to the extreme on there reviews just to get attention. Too many times has that mag put me off games when months later i give it a try and love it. This will be a buy for me but not just yet.
Edge appear to have had a re-design in which they've disappeared a little further up their own backsides. Any further and they may well disappear off shelves altogether (with any luck). I gave up on their attention seeking, snooty form of games journalism years ago.

Got up to Act 3 last night and came close to throwing the controller a number of times due to the sheer frustration of being swamped by running zombies that combo attack and the inane amount of fetch quests. It felt like the game was saying “Go to A, then die, then go to B but die along the way, now go back to A but die straight afterwards then back to B again to die one more time”.
There are times when I love the game, when it works well it works great, taking out a whole horde of walkers with an electrified machete is awesome but the game seems to depend on co-op gamers which sucks for a loner like me. I can imagine the planning process (read in a Polish accent for authenticity):
Planner 1: “so at this section the player has to walk down a long empty road but the trick is that there are going to be infinite re-spawning zombies to chase him”
Planner 2: “but if he dies won’t he loose his money from previous fetch quests? All that constant death must be frustrating”
Planner 1: “ah but the other plays will heal him and provide support, it will be great”
Planner 2: “what if there are no other players?”
Planner 1: “look you sausage, Battlefield and Modern Warfare are coming out soon, stop asking questions and ship the flipping game already”
This is the same gripe I had with Borderlands, there is a solo game there but the mechanics were designed for multiple players and you certainly feel that later on in the game. If they had stuck to their guns and added more polish it would have been great but something tells me it was rushed out before the big hitters and what could have been great feels nothing more than good.

I am up to chapter 5 (Act II still I think) having had a helping hand from someone who jumped into my game on a second play through and, as Defiant Biscuit states, the game is much more manageable with someone else to help you kick zombie ass. There doesn't seem to be any difference in zombie numbers no matter how many players are involved and now I am in the City I find myself constantly kicking the bucket trying to complete quests where I am pitched against half a dozen walkers, the odd infected and a ram or suicider with only a bent machete. Thank God any damage dealt by me is retained when I resurrect. Current strategy is chop, chop, die, come back to fight, chop, chop, die, come back to fight…
Loving the game but it is starting to become a grind through rather than a survival experience.

you know…im really unsure if i like this game.
its really annoying when all your quests are like
press x at point A to get quest
go to point B
press or hold X at point B
return to point A
press X
get a few quid and a rubbish weapon.
just got to the 2nd area on it like so maybe that will produce some more fun now i have a gun
