Just thought I would see who has give this a go and what you all think.

I was a bit disappointed with what was in the demo, thought there may have been just a little more.

But what there was…. WOW

The handling and the graphics are as good as I could of hoped for and……

also had a quick blast on Rivals and I am thinking that this will get some use well after the career mode is done and dusted.

So i'm just hoping that I have some spare cash floating around come the 14th (If not I think i'll look down the back of the Whitehall sofa :-p )

My controller has never been held so tightly!

First thing of note was the 'free-look' around the cars…a taster of what to expect in the Autovista mode. Simply stunning fidelity.

I play with the in car view and it looked and felt great. Some nice HDR lighting effects as light reflected off the dash.

One thing I noticed with the in car view is that the mirrors seemed to be running at a lower frame rate than the main view. It kinda made them look like little TV screens, but I guess they had to sacrifice something.

I did all three races – I was surprised to see that although it was the same environment, the track gets mixed up – showing the potential for numerous permutations of the tracks that may be on offer.

Handling was nice and tight, although I’ve yet to try it with all the assists turned off (apart from the braking line!) – I need to see how much that Cougar can really drift around the corners.

I had some initial issues with the ‘Rivals’ mode – seemed to want me to do all three default races first – but then I had a crack at them.

What great fun!

The Zonda time trial pitted me against someone on my friends list – took me about 10 laps to beat their time.

Next was the BMW point to point. Immense fun. Great idea about driving through slow moving traffic (thank fuck there was nothing coming the other way). Makes it much more of a challenge…I can see it being nicknamed the ‘Sunday Driver Time Trial’.

The vista’s are stunning – some really clever use of graphics.

On the subject of graphics, I’m looking forward to creating a bunch of Midlife Gamer decals for everyone to use. Might take some time, but I’ll get there.

*A tip for anyone doing art work on the cars*

If you can, print out your design on acetate sheet (overhead projector film) if you can. Then stick that to the screen and use it as a template.

Needless to say, I’ve now got this on pre order (£34.99 at Blockbuster), no exclusive DLC, but I’m ok with that.

Agree all the way, booted up the demo thinking 'it'll be a tweak here, a tweak there. no real difference perhaps' but blown away by the visuals and feeling of speed in the car.

Didn't have enough time to try anything other than the 2 lap race but from what Adamski's described, some interesting game variations are being added.

Not a huge demo but just makes me hungry to see more! How will the Kinect feature thingammybob work?

Thanks for the offer of the decals, Adamski, definitely like to daub my motor in those. Probably on the rear bumper so everyone can see them as they overtake me.

I like car games but I'm not exactly Sebastian Vettel…

I had a quick play on the demo, it does look nice and handles really well, well on medium. I did put it on hard, and seemed to bounce round every corner.

The thing I did enjoy was the "Rivals" mode. Basically same car, same track, and beat your friends ghost car.

I had a play in the Zonda and beat the first 2 people on my friends list, then realised that the 3 people above me were playing on Expert….and stopped there smile

Probably not a day one purchase for me, but still enjoyable, and can see those leader boards getting quite addictive wink

I loved how they seem to have actually taken a teenie step back from the total simulation, and the driving seems for more fun 3. The in car views are pretty bloody amazing, and while I do normally play on bonnet view, I am tempted to stick with the in car view. It is preordered, and I look forward to painting boobs all over my collection of cars.
