Officially announced

Tune in next week for the first trailer.
The V looks like it's from a dollar bill if that means anything.

A lot of rumours around this one. Very unexpected as well, lot of people thought they'd wait till PS4 / Nextbox. Hope it's released during a quiet gaming time as my wallet currently screams in agony everytime I go to get it out of my pocket…

I have heard that Lazlow the radio presenter from some of the other games is rumoured to be appearing in this game, meaning that the radio banter should be as awesome as ever.
P.s did anyone else realise that Danny Dyer was in GTA San Andreas? kinda blew my mind a bit

Just give me a HD version of Vice city and I'd be happy..couldn't get on with the last GTA..though I'd like to see one set in Las Vegas for the first half then you fly to San Fransico for the climatic ending..maybe a shoot out on Alcatraz…or the Golden Gate bridge..

Looks like money but would washington DC be a good setting for a gta game? I thought DC was basically a planned government campus on a huge grid with lots of grand avenues and malls.
The last game was released summer 2008, so maybe the big financial crash from that year got into the writers minds and it's going to be GTA meets wall street/gordon gekko.
There seem to be a lot of movies and TV shows over the past months inspired by the crash – everything must go, company men, margin call, too big to fail, inside job etc…so maybe rockstar are going for it too.
Perhaps we'll be picking up escort girls for hedge fund managers and driving them to coke parties at the hamptons…or maybe not.
btw..margin call..brilliant, claustrophobic movie about one night before the stock market crash!

The main rumour going around at the moment is that it will be set in LA and you will play multiple characters.

multiple characters? ewww i hope not.
I've always got quite attached to my raping, killing, thieving, gang-banging alter ego.
It was never his fault. He had a difficult childhood.

I don't like the idea of playing multiple characters in a GTA main storyline, if there was one who you did the main story with and others in their own independent stories like Gay Tony from GTA 4.

Looking good. Missions make up about 10% of my GTA playing so the location and variety are everything. Base jumping or flying off the mountains and tearing up country lanes in san andreas was my favourite bit in all the GTA games.
Probably the last GTA game of this generation so hopefully they will go all out and make it huge like san andreas. Loved that game!

Much as i'm looking forward to this…i just remembered GTA games have the most annoying levels i've ever played and you need to complete them to open up new cities. Like flying a god damn radio control airplane to plant bombs, or escorting a car apparently built from sticky-tape and tinfoil.
My controllers thumbsticks are shivering in fear.

Dan we are all terrified of those levels but it will be worth it just to hear such lines as "it's 1984 darling everyone's on cocaine!" or my personal favourite "Are you a professional idiot or just a gifted amateur?" these are the moment we strive for.

I think they will go for gritty realism. With the Money motif in the V, the hints at homeless people and foreclosures in the trailer, I imagine that this game is going to make a lot of parallels with the financial crisis.

Also, with Saint's Row going so far into the gonzo direction, it only seems fitting that GTA would want to differentiate itself by going more in the gritty realistic direction.
thinking back on it, its probably the story that put me off gta4
and the lack of things to do outside the missions, very much like mafia 2

Indeed, that's what I just got from watching the trailer.
Loved the trailer and music playing, anyone know what it was?
