After much thought and consideration im going to take the plunge and buy a dsi xl.
I just wanted to pick every ones brains on which games to pick up. Im mainly in to shooters, sports ie tiger woods but im open to new gaming experiences if i can get them cheap enough.
Any ideas on accessories would be good to ie what size memory card is best? If needed.

Shooter wise, you can't go wrong with Metroid, Moon, the Call of Duty games, or even Dementium 1 + 2, sports games I couldn't advise you as I don't play them, but it's also worth picking up copies of Puzzle Quest 1 or 2, Dragon Quest IX, Rooms – The Main Building, Zelda Spirit Tracks, any of the Castlevania games, Might & Magic – Clash of Heroes, Transformers: War for Cybertron, either version, Wordmaster or Bookworm, and another essential purchase is Peggle, as the DS is probably the best version after the PC/Mac

Trackmania or Mario Kart are the only driving games you need, they're fantastic, or you could go with Diddy Kart racing, SEGA sonic racing or Dirt 2, which are decent.

No idea, but I believe the memory card is really only for carrying music, or downloaded games from the Nintendo store, there's a really wicked Castlevania looking one from Gameloft, shame I don't have a DSi

I know you didn't request anything from these catagories, but a couple of suggestions:
Â
Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney – starting with the first and moving forward. Just a great series of games. But only if you are cool with a lot of reading and puzzle solving.
Â
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey - really enjoying this unusual RPG right now. Again, not in the catagories you listed, but an exceptional and stand out member of this genre.

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is a great game, you might like to try some of the other games in the series, only Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor is available on the DS, but they've released quite a few of the others on the PS2 and SNES, if your gonna give this a go, you may also like to check out Etrian Odyssey 1+2, similar kinda game but a more fantasy feel instead of the sci-fi of Strange Journey. If your into RPG/Adventures and you would like to try something a bit different, try The World Ends With You, a great game, that is unlike anything else I've ever played, you control two parties in battle on both screens at the same time, can get a little confusing to start, but when you pull of some killer combo's, you'll fell like a ninja, also for RTS fans, then give Advance Wars: Days of Ruin a go, brilliant C&C style game (turn based) anything else you looking to try?

The Brain Training games are pretty shite to be honest, but if you spot em for a couple of quid, it may be worth picking em up, personally I wouldn't bother though.

Definitely skip Brain Training, and go for Phoenix Wright or Professor Layton if you fancy some puzzle games.
Chrono Trigger and Etrian Odyssey for RPGs.

Starship Patrol – simple buut stylish and fun TD game.
Reflect Missile – puzzle break out style game. Good fun.Â
Soul of Darkness – Castlevania type game.Â

depends on how much you are looking to download, 4 gigs should be plentiful.

That's the bugger, that game looks brilliant, but alas I fear they will never release it as a cart based game, and I nay have a DSi

Here are some of my favourites:
- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – I was really surprised by this. Actually pretty funny, rewarding cross-examination system, engrossing stuff.
- Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow – Metroidvania at its best.
- Zoo Keeper – Frantic match-three puzzler with a great time attack mode for filling six minutes.
- Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword – It's really cool how much of the XBox version they crammed into this. Stylus controls are top notch.
- Cooking Mama – I was introduced to this by an eleven year-old girl. At first, I was humouring her. Hours later, I had to abandon my quest to get all golds – my little squinty red eyes couldn't take any more sushi chopping. Addictive.
- Puzzle Quest – gaming crack. Match three + loot and levelling.
- Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass – if you enjoyed Wind Waker and want to see how console games can be adapted to use stylus.
- Contra 4 – Very canonical update of a great franchise. Hard as nails.

Â
Yes I've actually played nearly every game you mention here! I'm finding myself conflicted… Im a huge fan of the Etrian Odyssey games and I'm actually finding myself enjoying Strange Journey even more… though its hard to admit.
Â
I have Devil Survivor but I haven't played it yet. I have a somewhat annoying 'save the best for last' theory when it comes to eating and playing games…. thats probably one of my most anticipated games to play, yet I keep putting it off in favor of other games because I'm more excited to play it. I'm sure that makes very little sense to anyone else. It doesn't even make sense to me.
Â
Loved TWEWY! I keep holding my breath that they'll make a sequel, but I should probably give up on that.
Â
By the way, regarding our little PS3 Trophy competittion that I initiated… I yeild! there is no way I can keep up with you! I bow to you, my friend.

You'll love Devil Survivor when you finally play it, I preferred the strange Journey too, found it much easier to get into and play, also a very good story, I'd love for a sequel to TWEWY as well, but like you say, I doubt it will ever happen, which is a shame, as it was so original, and as for our trophy challenge, sir you inspired me to play through a large portion of my pile of shame, and I've found that they are some good games I'd neglected, so thank you brother.

Get Truma Centre, its dirt cheap. Mario Kart as long as you have other people play – then it just becomes the best game of all time. Phoenix Wright is a great game series so is Professor Layton. There's actually loads of really good games out on the DS

I'm realizing that what I'm liking so much about Strange Journey is something that I rarely find in games. When I'm going through the levels, playing through the game, I know exactly what my purpose is. Its only just recently dawned on me how rarely I know what my objective is when I'm playing a game! Sad really.
Â
I'm glad I've inspired you to dig through the pile of shame. Its always good to make ones way through that. So could it be then that you don't typically earn 50 trophies in a week? If so I may have to jump back on the horse!
Â
Sorry to get a bit off topic there.

Yeah Strange journey is very clear on it's quests which is a great thing, no random wandering around looking for what to do and kill, As for the trophies, no I normally only do about 10-20 a week, but now going through my pile of shame playing some games that I hadn't even put into my PS3, I've unlocked a fair few more than I would ever normally do, 61 is a little excessive for me.

Short answer, no, long answer noooooooooooooooooooooo!
Â
you basically connect with people via wi-fi who are local to you (about 30 meters), on some games you can connect wireless via the internet, but you need to have your friends code (like on the Wii) to connect to them, on the numerous games I've got, I've never tried, because I can't remember my wireless password I chose for my router, and Virgin Media are bloody useless, so I can't connect my DS wireless.

I always play Mario Kart online, it's bloody brilliant. Not against friends, but anyone who's there.
Tetris is also a blast online!
