I definitely want it but am still restricted to a rather foolish resolution made a month or so back so am working through the Pile of Shame before picking up anything that isn't on my shortlist of 3 titles for the first half of this year.

Will prob pick up when the price dips a little.  From the reviews I've read so far, it sounds like it's going to be a sleeper hit with it's mix of traditional RPG and God of War Lite combat.  The amount of effort that's gone into creating the World and its history is quite simply staggering.

Would be v interested in your opinions once you've gone balls deep, cramtheman.

Looks good, liked the demo and I like R A Salvatore's stuff but alas the only full price title I can afford (well I'm going to buy it whatever)  to buy early this year is Mass Effect 3 so will prob also get this after the price drops.

Hope it does well, very nice to see a good new IP.

Definitely a lot of Fable in there, which is no bad thing. There are so many RPG's about at the moment. I need to get on with Skyrim as ME3 is on pre-order and I'll never get round to going back to Skyrim if I don't get on and finish it. And I'm a massive Final Fantasy er, fan and I really want to get started with FFXIII-2.

Anyway – Amalur – want it. I really enjoyed the demo. But as MaGe and Caliburn said, I'll wait for a price drop and get through some of the other things first. I guess this makes me guilty of not supporting new IP, when there are so many sequels to play… But these RPG's take so long to play!

Despite me saying I would buy no more games this year at full price, I just had so much fun with this title that I had to pick it up on pre-order. No other game in the last few years has made me want to play the demo through more than twice. Kingdoms had me playing through three times and still wanting more.

Ever since the original Fable I feel the series has been letting me down with no real improvements to gameplay or even the game world. Kingdom seems to be a good marriage between Fable and World of Warcraft with fun combat, decent skills progression and a beautiful world to discover.

I'm sure it'll plummet in price in no time. I reckon it'll be down to £17.99 within two months but I'm an impatient mutha. laugh

Be careful if you buy this preowned. Even though it's a single player only game it uses the EA Online Pass system. If you don't have the online pass you'll need to buy it from EA or you don't get a major questline.

Seriously?!  Wow, do they advertise that fact or would it just be a nasty surprise lying in wait?

The back of the box says "online pass" if you look for it, but it also clearly says single player. It's a lovely surprise when you open the box though isn't it?

They pass it off as a code for the Mass Effect crossover armour but really it's to squash preowned sales a bit. Expect this to become common practice in 2012.

Yeah – the online pass is cetainly going to become the standard, but as Systems says, this isn't even an online game! The same thing was done with the Catwoman levels on Arkham City and quite frankly unless the Nextbox has a bluray drive in it, 'big' next gen games will contain the game engine and a few levels on the disk, with the rest of the game coming through supplementary downloadable levels, some of which will be part of the game and others that will be chargeable DLC. I think this is more likely than the next consoles being unable to play preowned games. Until we have an all digital downloadable platform, publishers need bricks and mortar shops and if you have no resale rights then Game(Station) will go out of business, claiming that they have been ruined by the very companies whose products they sell.

Got the game first thing Friday morning and by evening I'd just passed the 5 hr mark.My impressions so far are very good..it's got a very Wow/ Fable feel to it and it's got a great user friendly feel to everything. The combat is probably the best thing about the game..very fast, smooth and easy to use..the world itself looks great and vast..the quests are good and there's abit of a story going on which isn't the greatest so far but it's not spoiling my enjoyment of the game.id say if you loved Fable 2 and you've enjoyed the world of Aseroth this would be right up your alley.

Same as me mate, just tipped over the 6 hour mark and really enjoying it so far. Haven't even started with the crafting yet which looks like simple fun. Definitely a Diablo-type loot thing going on as well with loads of drops.

I'm going as a Shakrim wielding Mage and kicking Bogart butt. Or at least I was until I ran into some hard arsed trolls and some flying thing that just murdered me! Tooling up to go back in for more though.

I just tried the demo of this and it's not grabbing me. It reminds me too much of Fable and I really didn't like that either. I'm not keen on the cuteness of it all, I like my RPGs grim (my cuteness limit is Monster Hunter). Although I do like the fact that you can junk your items and not have them clutter the inventory system.

I might give it a look in during the summer drought when it's a tenner.

I've chucked another 4 or so hours in on it since the weekend and am still really enjoying it. I love the way the combat is so easy to mix up – one minute I can be pounding in arrows from distance, launch a shock wave to stun an enemy so I can close to within double dagger range. And it's so, so easy to do and feels natural and viseral. 10 hours in and I've hardly touched the main quest line and am still happy to be led around by side quests and exploring the game world. Just gained my first house and have it fully kitted. Moneys not a problem (have nigh on 100,000 gold already).

All this may be making you think the game is too easy and you'd kinda be right. It's easy to play, easy to feel powerful, easy to enjoy, easy to fill half an hour or easy to lose 6 hours in.

I think the real compliment is … I haven't touched Skyrim since Amalur arrived. " />

I've just touched 17 hours, currently a level 15 battlemage. As said above, the combat is brilliant. And I love how easy it is to mix things up, im rolling warrior armour and recently crafted staff + chakrams (which are badass!)

I to have hardly touched the main quests, I can't help but pick up the next side quest as I know there's some sexy loot waiting for me.

I've just finished the house of ballads quests, the final quest in that line is awesome! Finishing the warswarn quest line is next on the list. I agree that it is a little easy, so I like many others have notched up the difficulty and now its alot more of a challenge.

Id love to have a second radial for spell casting tho, I think just 4 is very limiting. And they could have easily had another you could switch to. All in all I am absolutely loving this game! Even so that I kinda wish mass effect 3 would get delayed (just a little)

If it's any help to you simplygames.com are selling it for just under £35…although I wonder how long before it'll start dropping in price.

Finished the game a few hours ago and ye it's good.Enjoyed the experience but for some reason I just didn't fall totally under its spell..what it does it does well and yes the combat is great but I think the story and locations let it down abit..I'm trading it today for Syndicate but it's definately a rent or a buy at the right price.

Same here. I'm about 25 hours in and haven't left the top left quad of the map yet! How long did you take? Did you just stick to the main quest line?
