For starters ..what a crap name.Anyone buying this next week.Im sorely tempted having been a massive Metroid Prime fan and also a big Nintendo fan..but reading a few initial reviews and previews im having doubts..

Just seen that I.G.N and Gamespot have both given it 8.5 in their reviews..so looks like its a buy then.

I'm a big metroid/nintendo fan too, and will most certainly be getting it on friday! I love the side scrolling game play, and from what I hear, team ninja have used a very intuitive lockon system for shooting enemies. It looks great too. I think its done bad in reviews (compared to prime) because they give samus a voice and the story is a bit on the silly side (ex-boyfriend), but the game is still you exploring alone.

Well ive played nearlly 3 hrs of this game and talk about infuriating!!!…the switch from 2d to 3d is doing my head in and causes you to die loads…and parts were it goes into 1st person view to find 1 point you need to scan is just plain stupid..just spent 20 mins looking for 1 such point….aaaaggghhhh….decided its not for me and im going to trade it in tomorrow for monster huner tri..and before anyone posts..im a massive Metroid fan but this imo just doesnt gel together properlyKeep it 2d or 3d not a stupid mixture of both…just be warned before buying you need alot of patience with it.

It basically sounds like its all good for being a rental game.. which is the way I am going to go with it (after I've completed Metroid [SNES] and Super Metroid [NES] once again – from the virtual console service Ninty have!)..
Other thing is, you've got to like the way Team Ninja do there games (Ninja Gaiden mostly) to be able to get the design and gameplay choices..
..it's kind of a pitty that Ninty have let someone else touch a massive Nintendo franchise, other than Retro Studios who did a fantastic job with the Prime series..

I'm annoyed with it because it hasen't arrived yet! But I'm still looking forward to playing it. I read a bit more feed back on a different site, and most of them are saying the 2D combat is great and very metroid.
I can understand cramtheman's pain the 2D to 3D will get on my tits.

I am reading and hearing bad bad reviews all over the place for this game.
One was very furious about the story and how they "developed" Samus.
She did not talk in any previous game and was portrayed as the bad ass
bounty hunter.
Now she is just a wimpy girl….
That reviewer went as far as saying this game might have damaged the whole
series beyond repair (from a story standpoint).
I haven´t played any of the Metroid Games, I am more the Castlevania fan,
so I can not judge.

UPDATE..didnt get to trade it at the moment so played it for abit yesterday and today.Its actually got alot better..not Metroid Prime better but better than the first few hours.The enviroments are quite good now not just plain old corridors…the cutscenes arnt putting in any apperances at the moments either and weve had some good boss fights…but 2 of the 1st person find a scan locations are terrible and flipping into 1st person during battles can be a right pain…overall im going to finish it then trade it…I can see that this game will divide alot of people but up to now..5hrs in its ok..but its nowhere near as good the last 3 Primes.

ive only played metroid on the gay boy so havent followed the series. what is the other M please? and is this the worst title for a game or does it make sense when you know what the other M is?
