Well I've marked this up as spoilers but I think its too damn big to give much away.

Anyhow, its cruel. I went for some armour and weapon crafting and it looked excellent. Except its SO heavy I lumber around like an oaf and I topple about overbalanced by my big f#ck off sword.

I've unequipped it all now and gone back to plant and bug hunting Embarassed

Ooh its go Thumbs Up

This is no walk in the park.

I've been working all weekend and am still there now so I haven't had time to get to the shops yet.  Probably Monday.

Hugo, those big swords and hammers are more useful in multiplayer.  Go for the sword and shield or a ranged weapon of some kind and get used to rolling out of the way.  Make sure you carve everything you kill as well. You never know what you're going to get.

Glad you're enjoying it though.  Bring on the multiplayer.

From what I've seen, MH is of the same hardcore order as Demon's Souls.

Aww dammit, I might just get this, does the voicechat work well in parties? The mic is in the controller innit?

Its on Zavvi for £41.45

Christ, I'm gonna have to shout a bit then!

Also, wouldn't it just pick up the sound of the game?

I have a Wii speak/talk/shout/feedback/white noise aaargghh turn it off.

But I haven't tried it yet so I couldn't say really.

The Multiplayer looks pretty simple to set up – you pick town instead of village pick a level of Town and then there's an option to name a new city and start your own game. MLG City should do the trick, I just have to see what the rights are to kick people etc if we get one of those horrible randoms in.

Got my Monster Hunter "fix" today too. Got that collectors chest.

But will not be able to play until this weekend.

My Wii is currently at my girlfrinds home collecting dust….. need to get it out again,

do not know if I can get it online right away.

Played two parts on the PSP – finished none because of no multiplayerfriends.

I hope the cammera is at least a little better.

Best Regards

Oli, it is a dream come true.  To be able to control the camera with your right thumb is pure undiluted heaven in an analogue stick.

I started playing this afternoon and three hours have completely vanished.  Far too good.

I finished a mission earlier, got back to base camp and just stood there, gazing out over the water.  The full moon bathing me in its glow as the clouds came rolling in, before disappearing out of sight over the mountains.  The people of Moga village believe in me and I will not let them down.

OMFG! This game is too bloody good to describe.

I got a little over confident and upped a gear in the quest stakes because I'd already noted a drop from a certain creature type. Thinking that I could just bumble over there and get the goodies at my leisure I signed up.

Oh NO! That was not the case at all. A Level 1 Quest and….

I go and bump into the Main Boss Lagiacrus himself! It scared the living daylights out of me!

Tried that quest myself.  Just managed to complete but only after two faints.  Just made the third set of 'guts'!

That fight is going to be so awesome.  It must need a bit of teamwork.  Can't wait.

Just killed a Great Jaggi.  Little bastard.

He commands all the smaller Jaggi to hunt me in packs.  That didn't deter me though.  After a good half an hour of hunting, I had him on the ropes, only for him to crawl off and hide.  My paintball tracking had worn off.  Gave me time to go searching for some herbs and mushrooms, then we were back on.

I'd already fainted twice and had a very unhealthy stock of supplies, but I had killed almost all of his minions in the area.  After a few final swipes with my Great Sword it was all over.

My telephone then started to ring at that precise moment and I almost forgot to carve the carcass for my rewards.  The air would have been blue.

Superb game.

Having just gone on my arse on the same quest I would just like to say that the Mrs finds the running away animation highly amusing.

Needless to say she was laughing a lot!

Yeah, the run animation is straight out of Monty Python.  Classic.

Not sure about the egg.  I don't think I ever made it back to base camp with one in Freedom Unite and I haven't found any in Tri.

Hugo, I was wondering if they've made the game easier, but I have spent almost fifty hours in FU so I've had a bit of training.  That Great Jaggi was touch and go, but now I've seen the weapons I can create with the parts that I carved from the body and I'm all excited.  I just need to kill a load more of them.  Lots more potions needed this time, and plenty of steak.  I want a fancy Bowgun!!!

How are you finding the difficulty?

The egg really slows you down and you can't do anything else when its being carried or it drops and breaks. I'm not sure what happens if you're attacked while carrying it? I managed to find a safe route back to camp but couldn't do anything with it.

If anyone wants to know when and where it is have a peek in here

The centre of Area 8 and so far has only appeared during quests.

Have you found that route down from eight to five that it shows on the map?

I cant find the bloody thing and I've inched across that map looking for a route.

And I can only find a route up from 11 to 8 but not back the other way?

I do use an unmarked underwater route from the camp to the centre of 9 though, the only down side is it comes out dead opposite those bloody Felynes that attack and nick your gear.

If you're looking out over the cliff at eight, head to the far left and you can just jump off the cliff back into the water.

Again, back in FU, whenever there was a vine to climb up you can just jump off and land at the bottom.

Oh guys you are really making me want this but I also want Red Dead. what to do, what to do.Confused

what's the difference between the Ultimate version and the one that just includes the controller? Is it just the Wii Speak?

I've just seen this in Asda with the controller for £42

I'm not sure what else is in the 'big box edition' apart from the Wii Speak.  I'd say just get the game and controller pack.  It's a great controller and we can always set ourselves up with private chat on PSN or Xbox Live.

I know what you mean about having to choose games though.  I was looking forward to Super Street Fighter, but I'm just not going to be able to play it.  I can see Monster Hunter devouring every minute of my gameplaying time for the foreseeable future.

Collectable head!  I'm gutted!

I've just spent a good while taking down another Great Jaggi, this time in the woods, but all I got was the kill which was transferable into Resource Points for the village.  I thought I'd get some items from it that I could use for weapons, but no, just points which is fair enough as there is no time limit in the woods.  I should have realised that when I started.  All part of the learning curve.

I have another GJ quest open to me now but it involves capturing the animal alive.  I'll have to wear it right down and then spring my trap.  It's all about the Pokemon baby! Smile

I do have lots of RP now to spend on the village whenever they need anything doing, but they keep requesting specific items to go with the points.

Freedom Unite was super involving, but this takes everything from that game and cranks it right up to twelve.  Loving. It.

BTW, if another one of those Felynes cracks me over the head and steals any more of my stuff (especially Goldenfish) then I'm going to keep combining my items until I've created a bomb to blow those little f**kers into the middle of next week! Wink

I've not read any spoilters on here, but I've been keen to read what you've been saying about the game.  So far it seems right up my street.

Few questions.

Big box version, does the controler that comes with it mean I don't have to use ANY motion control?

Does the speak thing it comes with mean I can actually have voice chat?

Does multiplayer allow you to brings goodies back into your current game?

I did kind of ear mark Demons Souls as a purchase, but considering I've got the HK version sitting next to my PS3 and its not one of my "go to" games, perhaps something like this would be more suited to me.  You guys know what I think, what do you think?

P.S. I've been playing my Wii with poor cables, so if I could always invest in a new one to make it a little more crisp.

Ooh that could spell disaster for me, I need to harvest Great Jaggi bits for my next weapon upgrade. I may have to swap to my bowshot for a while.

Good luck springing that trap I was a bit haphazard the flash bangs and ended up with a clutch of dazed minions and one seriously pissed GJ!

I've also got a special village request for 'monster juice' which is worrying, I aint milking no monsters!

When we party up I don't care what we do as long as we go and kick the shit out of those thieving bloody Felynes. They are the only monster I have to sneak or run past. You can bash them to get your gear back but inevitably you get ganged and you're losing it faster than you can recover it.

Yep no motion control unless you change the settings and set it to motion and nunchuck. I tried it for a giggle but christ it was hard work.

Yep it gives voice chat straight through the Wii in game, however, I think mines bust.

Yep you can bring goodies back and give goodies to your party buds.

Video quality is good but it isn't great I'm going to upgrade my cables this weekend just for this.

Think of it like this. Remember the free roaming you could do in UO? Well its pretty much the same with a 4 person multi player limit.

You can just go out gathering or mining or bug hunting or fishing or hunting or all of them at once. You can free roam or do quests. You can fashion weapons and armour you can upgrade it and enhance it. You can fully customize your character. You can trade or buy or sell or stockpile. You can combine items to develop new or better ones. You can improve the village and your home. You can manage the farm or the fishing fleet.

There are mysterious items and creatures and unexplained stuff. The hunting changes with the day night cycle and there's even a forecast for the next 3 game days on what's probably going to be happening. The cut scenes are awesome.

And I've probably missed out a ton of stuff, there's just so much to do.

Game of the year, early call but Yeah a definite contender.

The Great Jeggi is a bugger

I always used to swap weapons but I'm having a decent amount of luck at the moment with my sword.  I do love the ranged weapons though.  Need to get that sorted soon.  All that different ammo!! Mmmmm.

I got some 'Monster Juice' when I first tried the Goldenfish quest.  You get it from those small buzzing flying things that are near the fishing spot in area ten.  I smashed all three of them, they left the juice item, then I realised I didn't have enough bait to catch the specific fish so I abandoned the quest.  I lost all of my items that I had acquired.  I haven't been able to get anymore!! DOH!

Agreed about the GOTY.

Matt, you'll have to give it a go.  I didn't realise there were parallels to UO.  That game must've been bloody awesome!

Hugo, have you sorted out the Wii Speak yet?  I'm still not sure whether to get it.  It's only a tenner on the ebay.
