This game finally handed me my ass tonight….gift-wrapped.

Went online to fight the Qurupeco. Now I am doing the tier 3 quests offline so I am roughly up to point where I should be able to take on of these monsters on.

But I tried 3 times with randoms and it would not die. Everyones armour was about the level of mine (Jaggi – Ludroth) yet still we could not defeat it. Are the large monsters in the online game stronger than their offline counterparts?

The game never feels super threatening the way Demon's Souls does, but then you just suddenly die.

Yep the difficulty seriously jumps for the online quests and it doesn't scale to the number of people in the party either.

So the Qurupeco on your own offline is like a baby rabbit compared to the Qurupeco online especially if you try and take it single handed.

If you want a hand you know where we are.

GCU8DG is my Hunter code.

Have you upgraded your armour much because that can make the difference, also look out for the type of damage it deals and what your armour weaknesses / strengths are.

Yep, the other problem with the online play is the fact that the whole team can still only feint three times.  It makes it really tough.

I think one of the breakthroughs I had early on whilst playing this game was to change my way of thinking.  Especially with Lagiacrus.    Instead of trying to kill the monster, change your tactic to trying to stay alive for 50 minutes.  It's no good if your team is only alive for 15 minutes! Wink

Thanks Hugo.

I realise now that Jaggi armour is weak against fire, which the Qurupeco uses. I'll have to change armour perhaps (alloy? iron?)

Guernica I think you are right about staying alive. I have played with some players who go all "Let's do this! Leeeeroyy!!!!" and then get killed three times pretty quick. They have better gear than me but they must just grind their way through offline to get gear i guess. I have found I'm pretty good with rolling and staying alive though I have found the SnS is starting to feel a bit weak. Would like to get some status effects on my sword so I could be more useful.

I'll get on in a few hours (not sure what time it is there). My hunter ID is KH2ZEW (hunter name Kip) and my wii code is:

6365 2927 0892 6715

I'll post on the MH3 friends code topic as well. Would love to play with some more experienced players like yourselves.

I've been on all morning, hit me up with a friend request when you get on and then the Qurupeco is going down!

I've just unlocked the advanced armour and the 4* quests are as hard as nails Cry

I can really see the character progression. This morning I was killed by a Great Jaggi when I was on a mission to kill it. Just now I was looking for spider webs in the forest to make some pitfall traps and I was attacked by two great jaggi, three jaggia and a few normal jaggi: I managed to kill all of the non-greats with one hit, then killed the two big bastards without having to move between areas. Whee! Only got one fucking spider web though. Geez.

Getting ready to capture a Qurupeco myself, trying to make a pitfall trap but the combination keeps FAILING! I'll buy all those BOOKS I guess…

Yep the books help a lot and also your chances of success are reduced if you combine items in the field.

There is also a shopkeeper online in the city that offers combine services at an improved %chance but I haven't worked it out yet.

Yeah, I bought the first three combination books, put them in my item box and managed to make ten pitfall traps without failure. Much better. Seems I'll be attempting that quest tomorrow though, bloody… family…

It's time to learn an important lesson in life Brother Jim.  Some things just are.  You cannot change them.  You are powerless to do so.  When your Mrs tells you to do something and you haven't heard the instructions as she heard them in her head, it will be your fault.  There will be nothing you can do.  There will be no explantation of what you thought she actually said.  You will just have to accept the fact that you are wrong.

It's the same with Monster Hunter.  We would all love an HD version of the game, but does it being on Wii make the game less fun?  No.

I really do love the fact that I can't hear people talking rubbish whilst I'm playing online.

If I may, I'll put it across like this.

Have you ever really liked an author, band or singer, watched them interviewesd on TV, then come away thinking that they are actually complete tw*ts?

It's the same with MH.  I get to imagine marvellous heroes and villains by the actions and deeds they perform, not by what they're saying to me in my earpiece.

I love it!

There's always a fucking mute button, geez. This game would be better on any other platform. They just made it for Wii because it meant the least work (reusable assets) for the largest apparent market, though I'd like to see the actual sales.

Despite the title selling a million copies on Wii, the president believes it could have sold better.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport…..rtid=20832

In a recent interview with Japanese website Mainichi.jp, Enterbrain President Hirokazu Hamamura expressed his disappointment over the sales of Capcom's Monster Hunter 3 in Japan. "I thought it would sell more. Crossing the million mark was the passing grade, though. On the Wii, which doesn't have games targeting core game fans, it made a strong effort against the 'hurdles' of being on a console and being a network game. However, I believe they wanted it to reach 1.5 million to 2 million copies."

The title was a strong performer throughout the whole year, coming in at number eight in ASCII's list of the year's best sellers with 949,095 copies sold.

Despite its relatively modest performance, Hamamura noted that the title could still be a strong seller for the rest of the year, especially if a new Monster Hunter title is released. He also hopes that the release of core games like Monster Hunter will grow the core market on the console.

And that's with a perfect 40 score from Famitsu!!!!

We're only powering up so we can steam through your Jehn Moran urgent quest to get you to 31!

Advanced quests are great.  It's jsut like starting again.

Wait until you see the Deviljho.  The Qurupeco we were trying to capture called one in for help.  Hugo and I just scattered, there was no way we were even going to make a dent in it!  I didn't have any steaks or rations, my stamina was minimal and I couldn't run anywhere.  Death was the only way out!

I did have lots of money as well.  Over 100,000.  After my spending spree on armour and weapons, I now have 73 zenny!

You're going to love it! Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up

When out after work to  to buy a suit for a wedding on sat happen upon a copy of Monster Hunter with classic controller Pro for £28 needless to say it was purchased and I went home forth-wit to play said game whoops.

But anyway from what I've play it seems like an epic game and if wish I had got it at release (but I had just got my PS3). So just wondering how I fine people from the community on it as been going balls deep on the single player.
