I had 20 minutes of TV time to whip through a quick on line quest. It took me 48 bloody minutes to collect some sodding mushrooms, I'm sure they pushed the spawn rate right down to make you sweat against the timer!

I expect so, thats what I imagine those pawpass quests to be like.
I might jump on for a minute to try to polish off those tier 1 online quests. Don't think I'll be able to capture a ludroth solo though, my online random experiences have been poor at best.

I'm not sure that we have to complete all the online quests, but it's still unknown territory at the moment. We may just have to get the HR, but then again…

UPDATE:
Last night I got into a group of quite good players. I've done all the 1st tier quests except the mushroom one.
Yet, when I hit HR lv8 it prompted me with the urgent quest to take down a Barroth.
Oh and Mr Rune, did you get my Twitter response regarding adding things to your journal? I do hope those 140 characters were put to good use!
Also, whilst in my party last night, I finally figured out what the Start button does on the controller. Normally your character will kick the ground or a small sideways slash with your weapon. However, one of our party was getting nailed by a Ludroth, he was on the last blips of health and he was stunned (stars around the head). In a moment of inspiration I ran up to him and hit the start button, DING! No more stun. Its similar to what your Cha-Cha does when you are stunned or covered in glue, he'll run up to you and smack it off.

Yep reached Level 8 today and I've got the one off Barroth quest too. You cant get to Level 9 without completing it and there's no way I'll get that done on my own. There is also a level limit of 5 and over to take part in the quest.
Plus
I think only the person that instigates the quest gets it marked up as complete, if you help it doesn't mark your quest up.
Thanks Antman I had no idea you were meant to drop the lovely classic controller and pick the Wii mote up! I got the green grab symbol but still made a dogs dinner of it Some days I'm particularly useless.

Skype is our weapon of choice. I'll be floating around at the weekend, particularly Saturday, I wouldn't even mind starting a new character, maybe a gunner.
MH is quite a bit like Demon's Souls with it's combat, maybe a bit more forgiving, but the majority of it is about muscle memory.

Nice work Ant and Hugo, I still haven't hit eight yet. Did a couple of online quests today and got a few points so I can't be too far away.
Daren, have you got a classic controller?
Ant, I wouldn't think you'd need to start a new character…you can just buy a bowgun and armour set for that purpose and I dont think our higher level status would get in the way of playing with any newcomers. The Great Jaggi, Quropeco and Royal Ludroths are still fun to fight, although I did just take down a Quropeco in under five minutes. I need to farm his armour. I'm going to look like the Red Indian from the Village People.
Daren, does your phone rock some kind of Skype app?

You and that bloody switchaxe
Ant; Yeah just grab your bowgun and get back to struggling. I've got a small stash of ammo you're welcome to when we're next online.
And I finally got round to making a health horn today

Saying that, I might want to start a female character. One of the armour sets look like a pink teddy bear. Rhenoplos I think!

Lagiacrus is down! The hardest battle so far, I was on my last potion, I'd already fainted twice and I had less than 5 minutes to go.
It all ended with 2 mighty foes squaring off in area 12. Both members battered and bloody. In the end there was no hatred, just respect.

Bloody good work man. Congratulations is the order of the day.
I haven't had a chance to have another go at it yet. I want to get my new armour up and running first as well. Possibly Sunday, probably Monday!
But if I do manage to wake up early enough tomorrow…no , that's just crazy talk!
It's crazy enough, it might just work!

Argh, I thought I had this game cracked when I took down the Lagiacrus, how wrong could I be.
I won't mention the events post Lagiacrus beating, but one of the next quests is to capture one in the Flooded forest.
I've tried 4 times, and failed each. When that buggers in the water he hands my arse to me every time.
But, I tried the quest where you've got to down a Jaggi and a Barroth in the same sitting, no problems there, had a wee nap in the middle but was all done by the 30min mark.
I think its got to the stage where I need to have several different armour sets, each tailored to the beast. Until now I've poured all my points into Attack Up and battered whatever gets in my way. But alas I've hit a sticky point where the materials I need aren't available yet, so I've got to just keep beating my head against that Lagiacrus wall.
Oh, have any of you guys got an ancient sword yet? I was mining in the Volcano area and dug one up. It takes about 3 upgrades to reveal it's true power but I'm nearly there. Its a great sword with about 700 basic damage with about 450 Dragon damage.

Had a another go this morning to take down Lagiacrus. It went the distance. Not sure how much futher I needed to take him. Bitches.
I did manage to get HR8 though so we should be able to have some fun on Tuesday with the Barroth quest. Still trying to get my Quropeco armour. For some reason they've stopped handing out Scales at the moment!

No Ancient Sword as yet. I guess the volcano area is opened up after Lagiacrus?
My new Switch Axe is just over 700 damage with some dragon damage and it can take three different paths when upgraded. I need to get into the volcano region though as I don't recognise any of the materials.
I did want to get some more Armour Sets, just to have the different abilities and you can really see how the strengths and weaknesses are going to play out with the different creatures.
Emma's back to work next week so it should be normal service resumed in my playing time. I'm going to get the Laggy bugger!

Three more Qurepeco scales and I'll have enough for the Helm which will finally complete my set. I look like a giant sodding parrot but I have high hopes for it.
Discovery of the day; Do not underestimate the goodness to be had from the Moga village kitchen. If you get the right recipe for the meal the bonuses are excellent. I have a nice recipe giving a good health boost + 3 or 4 Feline feats. Even the Feline Charisma paid dividends with that miserable sod at the quest camp ~ He dropped 5 items and a rare 4 to boot.
Pushing for 70 Hours in and I'm a mile behind you guys but I'm still loving it. I may try and get a Monday & Tuesday night play in this week as there should be more than 4 of us for fun times.

I purchased the wrong 'hat' in error earlier. I wanted the big 'Indian Chief' look but picked the 'cap' option. Disappointed is an understatement!
I always forget about the kitchen, or at least get the recipe wrong!!!
Is anyone else feeding Cha-cha? I'll give him something every now and again but I'm not quite sure what the effect is!!

How do you you feed the little bugger? He's always moaning about his belly but I don't how to do anything.
I've BBQ'd and dropped food on the ground but I can't figure it out.
Recipe for Health up = Meat + Meat, normally the first Two on the list depending on what's fresh. I made a bad one this morning and dropped health and stamina, that was not clever.

Meat + meat is health and stamina.
Meat + wheat is health and stamina.
When you feed the cha-cha, it gives him xp and a certain ability. If you feed him burnt meat it makes him rage!
You feed him by opening up your menu, selecting the item and use "give". Cha-cha will take it off you and eat it.
Also, the little darling has different abilities. If you use the rabbit mask you can track large monsters. No other effect for the bbq mask. The mystery pot mask lets you put items in to change to other random items. To activate his special ability, open up the menu and press the + button to give a signal, it should acitivate it.
I've had 2 goes at taking down a gigginox, not even close, after 40 minutes he finally finishes me off (not in that way!).
Anyhoo, I look forward to our MP sessions, it should get me out of the rut I'm in at the moment.

What a bloody brilliant evening I've just had, and a round of applause for Marc, the not-too-shabby random.
Well done guys, that Barroth took us the whole evening (Mrs not happy), but it was well worth it. Hopefully it'll give you some confidence for the single player challange Hugo!

My bad. I was meant to be on a call at 8 o'clock but I didn't have enough fingers or toes left to answer it and keep playing and talking to you guys. That was one MOFO boss battle and it took us the best part of 45 minutes to take it out. Excellent fun as always guys and I'm still calling bullshit when that monster charged into that rock I was hiding behind and broke me and the rock simultaneously.
It's nice to see I haven't lost the knack of dishing out the friendly fire even when I'm only equiped with a lance!
Good times, great play and I'm looking forward to to
tommorow. Will there be 4 or more though?

Yeah, I didn't have enough fingers or toes to swap the iPhone for the iPod so played the last ten minutes in silence. It mattered not. I knew what the team was up to and we were like a finely tuned monster hunting machine at that point. Unstoppable.
Bloody great fun.
My Mrs was calling bulls*t on me playing on a Monday though. May be tricky getting on tonight, especially as she's home before me this evening. I have a few tricks up my sleeve though.
Wish me luck!

And there goes the Lagiacrus!
I had at least five minutes left but it was no easy feat. I had fainted twice before the twenty minute mark and thought this was just going to be another practise run. My mission was just to see if I could last for the remaining half an hour. After the second time of him going onto land, and with the help of my Demon Drug and Great Sword I just blew him away with my strength. He limped off to area twelve and I knew from Antman's progress that he was nearing the end.
"That bugger's going to rue the day he made me faint twice in twenty minutes" I thought as I lay my sword deep into his flesh.
Minutes later he was gone. There was much rejoicing.

This is getting unhealthy now, I saw a butterfly yesterday and the first thing I thought of was – Bugnet & Gluehopper.
I spend the time away from the game planning my next move, what armour I'm after, what resources I need to focus on, how I'm going to take down the next big creature, enhancement jewels, weapon upgrades and even what I'm going to grow on the farm!
Put simply – Crystal Meth isn't even vaguely addictive compared to this game
PS The Querepeco armour is in the bag, maxed to the nuts and enhanced with attack jewels. That Baroth is going down the next time I get on!

I think we're all in that bag now. Once you've gone so deep, the only way out is downwards. There's no stopping us, no salvation, just savage addiction pains.
You're lucky you don't have the PSP version. I've been carrying it around with me and while I was waiting for my new drive to format at work I thought I'd go on a little hunt. I'm working on a new sword! Someone only phoned me during the game, wanting my attention. Ridiculous.
Can't wait to see you in the armour! We all need to get up to speed and start taking down the Lagiacrus. The armour made from him has some serious jewel potential. Most of the pieces have two slots!
I certainly won't be allowed on tonight, but I may sneak in a little PSP action just to calm my nerves.

Maxed out the querepeco armour to level 5 and got the third mask for Cha Cha.

Hey, nice one fellas. That lagiacrus is one tough customer. I've tried the next quest to capture him but he nails me in the water. If he had the cajones to go toe-to-toe on land, I'd take him easy.
I'm sure you're ebnjoying the volcano Wayne, plenty of nice mining there. Make sure you mine all the nodes in areas 10 & 11, I often get a rare drop in there including that ancient greatsword. With a few more mats it'll be 700 basic damage and 350 dragon damage.
Nice one on the Gobul, Hugo. I found him really hard. I think water is my weakness. The next couple should fall quickly too.
PS: Oh Christ, I'm gonna be running around with you two dressed like the gayest men in Christendom!
