Fantastic stuff, it is great to see your production values and editting progressing each video.

I even noticed some sneaky picture in picture technique there, nice!

Great unboxing, Oli!

I like the Butter Knife of Doom (It's obviously +10 CHA + 5 DEX)

And the videos – Ooooh, awesome purchase!  Do those have any of his old Angry Nintendo Nerd reviews from 2006?

While I give kudos to AVGN for being one of the earliest caustic
reviewer he tends to be annoying and will willingly overlook facts
for more humour, which frankly he fails at.

Take the above vid:

Shit like pointing out how erratic 30+ year old potentiometer
based controllers behave in order to "try" to be funny is
more then a little churlish IMHO.

Thing is he does seem to be an enthusiast about gaming and maybe
he really does know his stuff but sometimes his forced efforts at
rage just make him come across as an annoying ignorant f***.

Maybe it's just the whole retro nostalgia thing, yes games were
pretty piss poor but back then they didn't have psychologists working
with level designers on player feedback loops or 150 man art teams,
or 5000000hz processors with 16GB of ram to play with.

Or it might just be the man genuinely is about a funny as a dose
of syphilis.

TaraByte, all the old vids can be found on his site: http://www.cinemassacre.com/ca…..2004-2006/

If you are looking for funny game reviews I would recommend ZP over annoying (I mean angry) video game nerd any day but that's just me.

Yes, the first Vol. has all of those 2006 the year he started.

Thats a Picture all 4 DVDs (those are all currently available):

Here is the Trailer for Vol. 1:

@Rebel

Yeah he might not be anyones taste, but I still very much respect what he did and still does.

He spawned so many others like

http://thatguywiththeglasses.com

http://spoonyexperiment.com

http://angryjoeshow.com

http://atopfourthwall.blogspot.com

just to name a few.

One must understand that the Angry Video Game Nerd is just a character.

James Rolfe is just playing a role here. His background is making movies and

wanting to be a director. He makes Movies since a little child.

That AVGN flick just turned BIG overnight because people discovered him on

Youtube.

I like to lean back and watch his stuff, if I want any serious reviews there are still

tons of IGN, Gamespots and so on out there.

Best regards

I did say I give him kudos for spawning the genre, I just don't like him (that pasona if you will). (ZP can grate people too but as ppl point out yhatzee is not ben crawshaw)

He clearly has a love for retro games hence why his collection is so massive (and it clarly is absolutly HUGE), I just think it's wasted talent to be go out all ragey in order to "get noticed" it's attention whoring of the lowest order.

For an idea of how retro gaming could be handled in a great way you might want to watch Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe (I am sure you can find means of watching it over there somehow wink ) and Charlie isn't really known for being a big games fan, AVGN could just be so much better if he didn't come across as being such a weapons grade tw*t.

he does have some really rare and interesting items in his collection though, and I would be interested in his none AVGN although I looked at his vids in "comedy" on his site and frankly the less said about them the better too LOL laugh
