I am well juiced for the Vita, this is a day one purchase for me. I wondered if any of you well informed peeps know if PSN games will be playable on it? I assume they will but havent read anything confirming this on the interweb. If it does, i think ill start downloading some games in preparation for next month's launch.
I'm waiting till next Christmas to look at buying a Vita..I've got a 3ds and I'm really happy with it and with my ipad2 I'm sorted for my portable gaming for now.By then the price will of dropped and we should have some better games out for it…really hope we get all the classic ps1,ps2 classics on the Vita..

Is it really anti-gamer of me to say I'd only get one after the inevitable price drop?
Sure I'd like to jump in week 1 and support the industry, but surely my wallet must come first.
After Japan's week 1 sales: 275,000 units, week 2: 75,000 units and week 3: 45,000 units. It seems the new hand-held is starting to flail.

I happen to be getting a tax rebate roughly when the Vita comes out.. so I think i'll probably be picking one up around Day 1, as a little present for myself. I've seen a few PSVita games that are retail copies in USA/Japan are getting PSN only status over here, such as Gravity Rush and Escape Plan.. I hope that isn't a common occurence on this platform. I don't have any problem with digital copies of games but I like to have the option to own the boxed copy and in most cases I prefer to have a boxed copy when available.

Right. Just pre-ordered my Vita. went wi-fi only, 8gb card and Rayman Origins for around £230 on Amazon, a deal not to be sniffed at. Will probably pick-up a couple of other games as well, possibly from Uncharted, Wipeout and Everybody's Golf.
PS, other online, and offline, retailers are available.
Sweet deal that and I'd be very interested myself in going for that deal but I've just spent abit per ordering a load of games so il leave it till later in the year before coughing up any cash for one..Rayman origins is a cracking game..if you've not played it before your in for a treat.

HMV are doing a deal now so have a look.
You get the pre-order pack and either Uncharted or FIFA for free (but no memory card).

I know Game are pushing it pretty hard, when I was in there last week they were trying the hard sell on everyone. talking about the bundles you can get etc.
I know whenever you buy anything in Game (and I only really bother with second hand blu-rays now) you get a litany of questions (do you want a strategy guide, pre order anything, etc etc) but there was an air of desperation about the way they were pushing it.
I think once some demo units are out there for people to try it may spark some interest but at the moment theres just a load of empty boxes on the shelves.
Contrast that to my local asda just before christmas and they had two nintendo 3ds stands running and a Nintendude on hand to shill to the parents.

Some good deals appeared last night, including one for a £199 Vita a Zavvi.
Getting mine day one from Game (in store), the 3g version along with 2 16gb cards, uncharted, katamari, little deviants and the travel pack. Also have about £200 in psn vouchers banked to start picking up the rest of the games I want digitally.
Really excited for this after I got to have a fairly decent go on an import version. Should mean more gaming for me as I can do this whilst the other half watches her usual run of soaps and reality shows.
Really hope it takes off and gets developer support, bit worried about the Japanese launch figures but they should improve as JRPGs and particularly Monster Hunter gets released over there.

I would love to get a Vita if:
a – I had the money
b – I could afford the memory card
c – one of you lovely peeps would buy me one
I love my PSP and there is a ton of vita stuff I NEED!!!!!!

@mym1nd – too true. I've got a stack of PSP games to get through still without starting again on Vita versions. P3P, Tactics Ogre, Gods Eater Burst, GTA Chinatown Wars, FF IX. I spent too long on Monster Hunter (500 hours…) so it put me right off track.
I'd love one, and will probably end up with one, but a voice at the back of my mind tells me that £300 is a lot to spend to play Everybody's Golf. I still check the bundle offers every morning at work though…

Right then chaps, who's definitely in Vita Club next week?
I keep making preorders, then cancelling, then making another one. Been through the process about 4 times now. I want one, then I see the cost of the things in my basket (other side of £300) and cancel. I'm finding it hard to justify spending more on a handheld than a full size console, even though it is very powerful (it's a PS3 in your pocket with a quarter-1080P touchscreen).

I've done this so many times myself but yesterday through f**k it and went balls deep. To be honest, I'd got sick of spending every evening looking at it, thinking 'ooooo, shiny', then talking myself out if it.
So this is what I went with in the end, and my reasoning.
3G model (as you get Wipeout for free when you top up a fiver on their PAYG sim). In the UK the Vita is unlocked to any network, so if you look in fleabay you can pick up a 3Gb over 3 months from three for about £8.
Went for the pre-order from play.com, as they are doing the 3G model, with a 8Gb memory card and Uncharted for £292, and this also includes the pre-order pack (pretty much some headphones, a few vouchers, and some avatar items).
So, I couldn't really pass up the office, as the additional you get for the £12 was too good to miss
Now granted, the release titles are pretty meh, infact once I've beat Uncharted and got bored of crashing into the wall in Wipeout, I'm not sure what I'm going to play.
I did however do a little research, and it seems you a, download any PSN titles that you've previously bought for the PSP, and b, able to transfer your saves from PSP to Vita….so think ticked a massive box for me.
Anyway, hope this helps.
If you need an more convincing, have a butchers at this Youtube vid

I like your thinking. I'm mostly interested in the remote play while the missis is on the telly, but then again that was the plan with the PSP and I never used it. It'd be cracking to play Dark Souls remotely on the Vita.
I've got the Rayman 3G bundle in my Play basket right now (with Quidco tracking of course). I'll activate the SIM with £5 to get Wipeout and the use the £5 voucher in the box for Super Stardust.
Not all the release titles are crap. Rayman is pretty much unanimously voted as the best release title, followed closely by Lumines and Super Stardust. Personally I wouldn't get Uncharted on release as the second hand market is going to be flooded with those at the end of the month (it has no multiplayer and is very short).
So, that's £278 + £5 top up (for Wipeout) + ~£1.50 for Super Stardust (with preorder voucher) – ~£4 Quidco
Or do I wait 6 months and hope it'll all be nearer £250?

I'm going to wait I think. Like Systems the most use I'd get out of it is the remote play aspect of it….more gaming time whilst, at least pretending, to be social whilst the missus watches Masterchef.
Uncharted is the only release that I'm really interested in and I can certainly wait for that.
Xbox GT: Vimesy74
Current games of choice: Battlefield 3, Gotham City Imposters, Trials Evolution, Witcher 2

Nah, just go for it, you'd only be saving about £40….and if your twitchy about one now, just think what you'll be like when they're available to buy …you'll be having sleepless nights
I like your thinking on Uncharted, however I'm hoping the likes of Game and Gamestation are offering a decent whack for trade in, hopefully it'll pay for itself
As for games, I've noticed the boomerang games rental service is stocking up on Vita games, so hopefully I can get through until some more AAA titles are released

I really fancy one, but just know that after a month it would end up gathering dust like my Galaxy Tab and PSP.
Im going to stick with the 3dS for now, games are getting cheaper and better and I really enjoy the change in pace with Mario 3D Land, Zelda and Mario Kart from shooters and RPG's on the PC and 360… cant help but feel from the lineup the Vita will be more of the same.
I have a loft full of portables, Atari Lynx, Gamegear, Gameboy Micro… I convince myself that they will be great because I can play them anywhere.. but then never seem to find myself in situations where its appropriate whilst out and about. Only time I get to play portable games is on the Android phone so between that and the 3ds I just cant justify another portable purchase.
For once in my life I have resisted!

Well, I'm at work again, checking the Vita deals again, adding the 3G one and Rayman and memory card into my basket again. Then I'll get cold feet at lunchtime and clear it again.
I feel too guilty about all the PSP games I've yet to complete, and in some cases I'm yet to unbox them (Tactics Ogre). I'm also annoyed that they'd taken the UMD Passport system away so if I want to play P3P, Gods Eater Burst and Tactics Ogre on the Vita I've got to stump up for them again on the PSN store (or whatever it's called these days).

Im picking up the wi fi version plus 16gb card, rayman & uncharted. To help me fund my mission im geting rid of the x box, as thats dead to me now mass effect is multi format. Also it has no interesting games coming out for it anymore.
Nintendo's 3DS not only outsold the PS Vita, but the PS Vita and PSP combined. For good measure, the Nintendo 3DS outsold the entire family of Sony products when measuring against the PS3, PS Vita and PSP. In the week, Nintendo sold 67,558 3DS units, Sony sold 13,939 PS Vitas, 15,860 PSPs, and 22,0002 PS3s.''
Dont think theres any need for hysterical cries of ''Its doomed'' from all the Microsoft fanboys but I do think it indicates there will prbably be a very early 3ds style price cut in Japan when Nintendo are consistently selling five times as many hand helds month on month. I guess over here it depends how the launch goes.

Today ! Sweet !
I did get the 'Oi Fraudster, ring us to prove you are who you say you are' email, but I rang them on Tuesday to confirm I was I.
Glad they're shipping today (hopefully mine is too) as I'd like to take it to Centerparcs with me next weekend
edit : Just checked my order, the status has changed to "Processing in warehouse"

Having just watched the video posted by D5120, I must say that the Vita looks a lovely bit of kit (I didn't get to see one at Eurogamer – the OnLive queue won as there was a bit of kit for a quid at the end of the waiting…), but I just can't afford one at the moment.
That hasn't stopped me trying to win one though!
Looking forward to hearing people's impressions of it once they start arriving over the next few days…

Ordered mine today, Wi-fi version with 8gb card, Dungeon Hunter and Uncharted, traded in a few bit's n' bobs, so it's not gonna cost me a penny, so all's good, and staff discount as well.

Boo. Mine's still listed as "pre-ordered" with Play, not even "packing" yet. Very unlikely I'll see mine for release day now.

That's a bugger…
Have mine preordered from local Gamestation so, all barring a balls up (and I hope I'm not speaking too soon on that one) I'll get mine on Wednesday.
There have been some pretty good late in the day deals for the vita from what I've read on the forums. I've only gone RRP as I had a ton of trade in credit and several Christmas gift cards for Gamestation. The need to raise extra funds for a memory card was a nasty surprise though…ouch !

All might not be lost. I have in the past ordered two items from play and received them next day as they couriered them. Maybe all Vita orders will be couriered?
EDIT – I am now "processing in warehouse", but my Vita hard case isn't (you really need a hard case or you'll snap your thumbsticks off).
