My god…how incredible does this game look…best looking game ive seen on a console and the gameplay is spot on..im a few hours in and its brilliant.Alot of people are comparing this to Fallout 3 and Borderlands and so far its equal to both..infact its probably the better game..a long way to go yet and ive not even tried the multiplayer, blame Dark souls, but ive got big hopes for this and youve just got to see the graphics..

Rage's graphics are just gorgeous from what I've seen on PC, sure its great too on consoles. When it comes to comparisons with Fallout 3 and Borderlands there a little unfair when saying rage is a copy cat of them since Rage had be partially announced in 2007 before those two came out. I'm just hoping Rage makes it way on to Onlive soon so i can test it out for myself.

I had a preorder and then cancelled it. Pretty game aside is it any fun. I thought it was gonna be a massive game with loads of side quests etc. but its only 9 hours long???

Playing this on a 360 and it looks amazing and runs as smooth as silk (60fps apparently).
However what's a bit weird is the wasteland and desert towns look fantastic but last night I entered a city and the views of the city looked terrible almost half finished compared early parts of the game. The internal sections of the city looked fine tho.
It's a really fun game and you have to say that id really knows how to code a FPS. It is just that tho there are no real RPG elements just some trappings (which is fine it's not criticisim). So you have to buy ammo and upgrade your weapons with cash. There is a whole racing/car fighting minigame which is a good laugh but feels tacked on to me.
The music and sound is brilliant and it gets very tense at times when you are waiting for the next mutant to jump out on you. The enemies are very cool and whilst the early ones charge at you and try and rip your head off, they don't just run at u down a corridor. They use the environment is really interesting ways to get to you.
The animation of the characters is very good. If you shoot someone in the left shoulder you can see the impact of the bullet on there gait as they get knocked back but if you shoot them in the head, legs, chest etc they react differently.
Altered Ego – I think it is more than a 9 hour game. I've seen reviews mention 20 hours. I'm about 6 hours in and it doesn't appear to be ending any time soon. I pre-ordered to get the anarchy edition but the armour aside the items aren't really all that useful. Good solid fun game but a rental would be fine unless you fall in love with car related MP element.

Been playing a bit on 360.
If the graphics were any more crisp, I reckon Walkers would sue.
Just wanna stare at the sky for hours…

Guys,
I'll probably pick it up, but I got Crysis for about 3 quid on steam last week and that is one fantastic looking game. It may be old, but it is seriously fantastic. I remember when it came out – everyone benchmarked their computers on whether they would run Crysis. My computer said, ultra-high detail, and I feel like predator in the forest.
I know this is a Rage post, but just had to chip in.

Also playing RAGE on 360, and it's the sexiest looking game ever (even on my crappy old SD TV, though it is a pain in the arse to read the subtitles on a SD TV) apparently though the second part of the game (when you enter the Sewers Town) is a bit of a let down, but seeing as I haven't got there yet, I don't care.

So I cracked and picked this up on steam, after seeing advertised as a bethesda game, not such a fan of most other ID games quake, doom etc but I'm a big fan of of the elders scrolls and fallout series
This game is so pretty! The game feels really well optimized, I'm playing at 1920x1080 and there isent the slightest hint of lag or slow down even when getting into intense action, also the loading times are impressive considering the huge amount of detail, I'm guessing this is due to ID megatexture tech I hope to see this in more games soon as this really is a huge inovation.
Comparesomes to borderlands are apt i think, its really got the desolate scifi western theme going which is cool everyone loves that style of world. Its got the right balance of shooting and driving, I disagree with the other posters the racing doesn't feel tacked on at all, its a nice change after an hour of slogging your way through mutant infested waste land.
I dont know about the 20 hours thing, I've played about 6 and it hardly feels like the story has started yet.

i dont know about anyone else, but I'm having really bad problems with screen tearing. I know it has well documented issues with various graphics cards and it is not the type of thing I usually notice but it is extremely noticeable, and is detracting from one of the prettiest games ever made…

Have you patched it up Chris…. mine was same but with new patch you can amend a lot more graphics settings, I think it was selecting VSync Enabled that sorted my screen tearing out.

Yup, it's pretty bloody lovely.
Enjoyed the play through but have to say got to the "end boss" and felt a bit was that it???
I am looking forward to a bit more DLC and to see what indie and other developers make of this engine.
Yup, it's pretty bloody lovely

Rage is good fun, but have to wonder if id lost there way with it! Not sure if 'From the creators of doom and quake' really stands for much anymore. Dont get me wrong, fantastic studio with great tech, but i feel that it might be for the old home guard of the firm to hand the gameplay too fresh blood with new ideas. i know john carmack is an amazing person and has done wonders for gaming and makes great engines, but its the gameplay that im a bit down on. i remember watching a clip of tim willits from id taking about rage and hes opening line was "were id and what we do is make shooters" you did, and the last one you did was doom 3. Times have moved on. The visuals are incredible, and the shooting/gameplay is good driving not so. But thats my disappointment it was just good not amazing.
