Yeah so i found myself with some money and ended up buying a brand new black wii for £75 i picked up Zelda: SS and epic mickey along with it. Now playing through skyward i suddenly realised this is my first nintendo console since the 64 and i have NO idea what im doing.

So this is where i need the communities help.

1. Is there anyway to get a clearer image? I know the wii isnt hd but im really wondering if this is the best i can do.
2. How do friend codes work? Im completely clueless.
3. I need some recomended games. I plan on picking up donkey kong country returns and mario galaxy 2 but what would you recommend?

I guess you're playing on an HD telly? You could try using component cables, turing the sharpness down and running it in 4:3 instead of 16:9. It's a shame – it's just not designed for high definition.

I never got friend codes to work either. But then I don't think I ever had any multiplayer games. I'll leave that to someone else to answer.

Resi 4 if you've never played it is superb. Definitive version on the Wii. And the first Super Mario Galaxy. I skived off work for a week to play that. But to be honest, beyond what you've already mentioned, I'm struggling to suggest other games! Zack & Wiki? Madworld? SMB3 in the download shop? The Wii U will play all these, and should make them look better.

Another vote for Tri (no friend code needed!)

Mario Kart is always fun.

Xenoblade Chronicles

Monster Hunter Tri

Zak & Wiki

There are literally hundreds of hours of gameplay in those three alone.

Use the component cable doofer its dirt cheap and makes a real difference. I didn't bother arsing about with the tv settings just plug it in and off you go. You'll be surprised at the quality.

Hugo is right about the component cable it helps a lot.

The games I'd recommend would be

Monster Hunter tri

Okami

No More Heroes 1 + 2

Metroid Prime Trilogy

Xenoblade Chronicles

Resident Evil 4

Mario Galaxy 2

Red Steel 2

and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

to start with. There is a great light gun selection too.

Also pick up all the House of the Dead games, especially over kill. And resident Evil Chronicles. The Dead Space game is also pretty good. The wii was made for rail shooters.

I picked one of the Black Mario Kart bundles up at christmas.  Bought New Super Mario Bros which has an awesome 4 player mode that the nipper loves, Zelda Skyward Sword, Monster Hunter Tri and Mario Galaxy 2.

Completed Mario Galaxy 2 which was absolutely glorious from start to finish… never played a game so intensively… just an absolute joy.  Also complete Zelda SS which has some of the best Motion Control I have ever experienced, recomend them both very highly thumbs-up

My daughters adicted to Skylanders and Super Smash Bros too… for a console on its way out its got some of the best games Ive played in ages!
