Hello cramtheman, I've got my copy today via shop-to.
Played it for two hours without even realising! The graphics are very good, easily the best 'realistic' graphics on the wii.
It has a good tutorial as you play, no random battles, it uses the nunchuk and wiimote or the classic controller but not the gamecube controller.
Barely scratched the surface of the game but my first impressions are all positive.

The voice acting is on a par with fable crossed with eastenders! That's not a criticism, it works well.
In fact, this game will give skyward sword a run for it's money.

Definitely worth a punt, first new game I've bought on the wii since galaxy2!

Hats off to shop-to for shipping early. : )

Ooh, nearly forgot… It has achievements as well..

Xenoblade Chronicles is a Massive JRPG which is out tomorrow only on the Wii.The director Tetsuya Takahashi credits also include Chrono Trigger,Secret of mana and Final Fantasy v among others.Checkout Edges review on their website or the reviews up on Metacritic..the game world is massive and free roaming and it really pushes the Wii in every way…the soundtrack is amazing.IGN are calling it the best JRPG of this generation and im really hoping the community get behind this game.

No probs mate..Well im 8 hrs into it at the moment on or round about lvl 18..it really opens up about 4-5 hrs in and when it does its incredible..reminds me of the first time i stepped out into Hyrule Field on Ocarina of Time..but 10 times bigger. Its got the day/night cycle..fantastic sunsets and incredible vistas stretching as far as the eye can see.The story is so well done and the battle system is one of the best ive every seen in a rpg.Its epic and its got that Ocarina feel to it..just brilliant…il post an update again soon.

Ye it does feel like Monster Hunter but its so so much bigger and hardly any loading screens. The draw distance is impressive as is the whole world.

I have only played the game for an hour. I cant get near my wii between work and my brother playing double dash, but at least I know its sitting on my shelf. The alternative cover is really nice and I cant wait to get stuck in to the game.

Your in for a right treat mate..ive just hit 20hrs game time and im round about lvl 31.It gets better and better every hr you play. The first 4 hrs are the most restrictive after that it opens up into the biggest game world ive seen…and it looks stunning. The battle system evolves over time and im unlocking modes and moves still..i think ive just scratched the surface of the game.Easily the best game ive played in a very long time…enjoy.

Good call chaps.

Six hours in, just about got used to the battle system and now I've got visions of the future from the Monado to deal with.  Just so incredibly good.  No wonder they're begging for a North American release.

The only other JRPG I've played in recent times is FFXIII, and while the combat system in that was excellent, Xeno's combat feels so much better.  How did somebody come up with this system?  Has it been 'borrowed' from another game, or has it stolen the best parts of many games and mixed it up into the sweetest real-time combat cake that I've ever tasted?

Even the gem crafting is super awesome.  How the bloody hell did they come up with that?  I can't help but be reminded of the 'mining planet' sections of ME2.  A seemingly lazy mini-game which no-one enjoyed.  Why couldn't they have come up with something as ingenious as the gem crafting game?

I've hardly played any games this year.  Nothing could touch Monster Hunter.  Although I'm still early on, Xenoblade has taken me, toyed with my soul, and reminded me why I love playing games so much.  Thank the lord for the Japanese. thumbs-up

Just a final point to echo Cramtheman's sentiment, if you own a Wii then you need to own this game.  Definitely on the game of the year shortlist.

Looks great, me and Jim were having a butchers today and its gotta be a go'er. Shame there's no co-op though.

Good man.  I'll definitely be sinking some more hours into it over the weekend.

I think co-op would break the combat system too much.  It's really hard to explain how good it is, although my earlier cake analogy works for me.

I do love me some Zelda but I can't see how Skyward Sword is going to be able to compete with this.  Could it be the Wii's swansong?

Hey..sorry to harp on again but ive probably had one of the best nights gaming ever tonight and its all down to this stunning game.No spoliers here but upon dispatching a high lvl boss the story has taken me to a location that just made my jaw hit the floor with its size and beauty..i arrived upon this location just as the sun was setting and i just put my controller down for about 20 minutes and sat and watched the stars come out and WOW..it was probably the finest sight ive ever seen in gaming…the clouds, stars nebulas and constellations..just stunning. The videos on youtube, how great they are, dont do this game justice..this is a must buy game and id even say buy a Wii just to play this..its that amazing…Final Fantasy..ye whatever..its got nothing on this..anyway im off to get a few more hours in before bedtime..will keep you posted.

Harp on brother, that's what we're here for!

I was tempted to stay up and play last night but I've got to hit the gym this morning!

My turn to harp! I love the way that when I die and go back to the last landmark, it let's me keep all the xp and loot that I found. Am I also right in thinking that I can just go back to pretty much any area that I've been to to mop up quests that seemed a little over my head the first time I tried them? Fast travel included? This game has everything!!!

When i got to this certain boss which was about 5 lvls higher then myself i fast travelled back to the other areas to complete and open up other quests to get the xp i needed. You can travel to any landmark anywhere once youve discovered it…also change the time of day. Some people and quests only appear at certain times of the day and during certain weather conditions.Yon can check this out in the character affinity menu i think..which is another brilliant idea.Ye love it that if you die its just back to the nearest landmark….just as it should be aswell. Most games by the 25 hr mark have usually revealled all their game mechanics and modes..this is still throwing stuff at me..youll know what i mean soon enough…going to try and get another 2-4 hrs in again today..enjoy.

My goodness where were they hiding this gem? Those videos look amazing, reminded me of the good old days when JRPG’s were the best, and I can’t get over those draw distances being done on the Wii. I’m gutted I sold my Wii a couple of months back.

If the Wii U (or whatever its called) can have games like this at launch then I’m sold. I’m getting giddy just thinking of Dragon Quest 10 being made in a similar fashion.

Its worth getting a pre owned Wii mate to play this..seriously…what are they going for now..£40-£50.The game is £29.99 so altogether its going to cost you about the price of two new games. The sights and sounds in this game are amazing..yep..the draw distances are insane..leading to some incredible vistas.
