Ok folks were getting close to the end of this year so I thought to ask what was everyone's Game of the year and why?
My GOTY has to be Bastion. Bastion answered for me the question of weather games can ever be art and the answer for me is yes. The beautifully realised art style, brilliant narration and the best in game soundtrack I've ever heard made this a truly great game (O yeah and gameplay so good it shamed most triple A titles)
So come on folks what's you GOTY?

I have to admit that Bastion bored the pants off me. It was one of those praised releases that I just couldn't "get" at all. For me its a toss up between Resistance 3, Shogun 2, Limbo and Toy Soldiers: Cold War. A big part of me wants to go for Mass Effect 2 on the PS but that wouldn’t feel right.

So far Dark souls closely followed by Bf3, Dark souls was just a breath of fresh air though not perfect. Bf3 multiplayer is fantastic even for someone as useless as me at console shooters.
Still not played Batman AC and Skyrim both of which are currently on my xmas list , just played batman trial on onlive (which weirdly worked today though looked crap 95% of the time) and it definatly looks very good indeed.

We’ll be putting a front page feature together about the Game of the Year, so keep the discussions going and I’ll stick your suggestions and thoughts in the feature.

Not just GOTY this year for me, but in my opinion Deus EX Human Revolution is the game of this generation. Truly an amazing game.

There have been some mighty titles this year (and many in the past month or so). My top 5 are:
1) Skyrim
2) Portal 2
3) Xenoblade Chronicles
4) Batman: Arkham City
5) Yakuza 4 (I just couldn't have a list without a Yakuza game, flawed but fun!) but Dark Souls really should be here instead.
Just outside my top 5 lies Dead Island. Like Brother Brown, I had great fun with this (and continue to do so) even with the bugs (hey, my number 1 game is known to have a bug or two )

Since people are doing their top 5's I thought I'd finish my list off
1.Bastion
2. Saints Row the third.
3. Batman Arkham City.
4. Terraria.
5. Dues EX Human revolutions.
No Skyrim? I hear you call. well that shall soon be addressed as the girl who lives next door to me has a PS3 and a shiney copy of said game. Time for me to use the old Cynical charm

Some really awesome titles this year.
1) Skyrim … what can I say, I'm a total devotee to the Elder Scrolls franchise
2) Batman Arkham City … Bigger and bolder than Asylum… they would have to map all of Gotham to top it.
3) Uncharted 3 … some minor niggles (gunplay) but otherwise a solid playable movie
4) Gears 3 … loved how the depth of the story progress each iteration. the 3rd was a fantastic ride
5) Bastion … Fell in love with this as soon as I saw the video of the "interactive" narrator. Ballsy and Bright. how I like my indie titles.
I think, if I hadn't had it stored back for Xmas, Dark Souls may have made an appearance, if the hype is true and it lives up to its predecessor.
All in all a year to keep me penniless and entertained.

I have to say that Full House Poker really got me and really loved playing with the good Lady :-)
As I have not played Skyrim or Batman I think i'm going to plug for Forza 4 without doubt the best driving game this year.
The only other game I have really really loved playing this year was The Darkness (but i'm guessing that wont count)
Oh, and can I say Tiny Tower :-p

LA Noire is my game of the year so far, fantastic script, fantastic style, a period in time that is utterly cool. I enjoyed every minute of it..
This is subject to change as I am playing Skyrim now but don't want to pass final judgement until I have played it a bit more. There are also games I haven't played yet like Arkham City, Portal 2, Infamous 2, Uncharted 3. I still think I would give it to LA noire though as it is an original game where the rest are sequels which bugs me a bit

As per usual, I have not finished any games from this year. I have however finished both Mass Effect 1 and 2, Portal 1, Enslaved, Infamous 1, Batman AA, Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles – Umbrella Chronicles, Dead Space Extraction on Wii and Goldeneye on Wii.
Best of what I've played on PS3 Batman
Best of what I've played on Wii Dead Space Extraction
Best of what I've played on PC Mass Effect
Best This Year Mass Effect

My top 5 so far would be;
- Batman Arkham City – Best free flow superhero game ever, now only if they could make a co-op spiderman sandbox.
- Skyrim – it may have its faults but its still a master piece
- Gears Of War 3 – A good finish to the trilogy, but i just prefer Gears 2
- Dead Island – Fun and tricky just too buggy
- Fifa 12 – Loads of fun with mates but they need to spice it up
Will be updated after Christmas
Most likely to be added will be Saints row the third and Football Manager 2012

3 Shadows of the Damned
4 Dead Island
5 Portal 2
however, I have just purchased Skyrim for £22.49 this lunch hour and I think it might sneak into my top 5

My game of the year has to be Portal 2 by a country mile. Everything I expected and more. My fave downloadable game was probably Stacking.

1 Skyrim – 360
2 Zelda Skyward Sword – WII
3 Portal 2 – PC
4 Battlefield 3 – PC
5 Super Mario 3DS
Also, I know its a late 2010 release but only really got into it this year and after putting over 250 hours into it and still keeping my attention I think Starcraft II deserves an honourable mention
