it would make sense to all start from scratch, there may be a few people with existing characters but the level gap is going to be too wide to play together, and people are likely to be spread over different servers

if we can agree on fixed gaming time the idea would be we all level up at the same speed

Yeah, I'd be up for it, although Monday isnt exactly my best day.

Think I'll hit the 14 day free trial to get a feel for he game and then start a new character once every else is in. smile

Bumping the thread to see if we can get a bit more interest, 6 would be ideal to make up a full group – the day does not have to be Monday I just thought 'MMO Monday' had a snappy ring to it

just rolled a dwarf guardian on laurelin-eu, name of Dredlin – making a nice change so far from the squishy casters I usually play

Client downloading. Might be done tonight if BT aren't too throttle-happy at prime-time.

with the free account are we only allowed one character slot? and in the same server? just i already have a level 50+ in ……(cant think of the server name : updated think its snowbourn)

so it would be cool if we have a different server to that one. dont really wanna delete that character lol.  and whats the plans on races? are we all gonna be the same race so we cant meet up early on?

update. apparently i will have premium status becaue im an ex player so i will have 3 characters per server.  happy days smile

heres a link showing you lotro f2p comparisonbetween free, VIP and premium

here is the FAQ

former subscribers automatically become premium players and get three characters per server (still no monthly fee)

free players are limited to one character per server

I chose eu-laurelin as it is a role-playing server. I have played here before, there isnt much role playing going on but the rp status tends to scare the kiddies off so you get a generally more mature bunch of players. You just have to be careful when choosing your character names

For those who dont know the first few levels are completed in a different instance to the rest of the server population, it takes about an hour to complete and will get you to level 6-7 approx

I went dwarf, theres no problem mixing up the races, I suggest we all get the starting zone completed then perhaps meet up in Breeland as theres a ton of quests around there

dont let me dictate though, just chucking ideas around

I have resubbed as I couldnt wait – particularly as I have just upgraded my graphics card to a Geforce gtx460 – I wanted to check out how it looks on maxed out graphics settings

pretty blown away by the improvement over my old card, getting between 60-120 fps on maximum graphics, and it is looking amazing – (although it still looks pretty good on lower settings)

admittedly the card did cost me the same as a brand now xbox slim, oh well – PC gaming ftw

great – we have 5 now which is really promising – it would be nice if we could get a decent mix of classes, what do people prefer to play – I usually go healer or mage class but am trying out guardian (tank) at the moment. I'd happily play minstrel (healer) though if someone else wants to tank

heres a list of classes from the lotro wiki which might be helpful

I'm downloading the free trial at the moment, not really played MMO's on the PC.  So be gentle with me lol!.

I'll probably role as a Dwarf/Hunter I think, I like using ranged attacks.

I usually play Mage as well, although looking through the classes there, I'd be happy to try Hunter as well, or Butcher but I dont know how much fun that would be to play on my own…

I'm installing at the moment too. To be honest, while I said Monday is not great for me, if that was the consensus I'd move things around to suit.

the mage class in lotro is the runekeeper which is a ranged dps caster / healer – however it is one of the two premium classes which you have to pay extra for (the other being warden) – my main character is a runey, a really fun and challenging class to play imho

butcher???

I am pretty sure there is no butcher class, although arm yourself with a meat cleaver I am sure you could do some pretty hefty damage wink

burglar is a fun class, you get a nice amount of dps, stealth which is great when dungeon crawling, and you get to trigger fellwoship maneuvers which are awesome for a group

just logged an hour there.

Made a hunter class and joined the server you mentioned earlier in the thread Mikey.

First impressions are just how pretty it is for an MMO especially since I've only ever played WOW apart from this. Pretty standard fare apart from that, aside from the spectated story moments which are quite cool.

aye its pretty, and gameplay does stick pretty close to the standard mmo mechanic – what it does particularly well imho is it threads an epic story arc through the game at various stages, each with its own series of quests/instances etc which really help to deceive you into thinking you are doing more than just killing ten rats for xp

I would suggest we all try a few classes out so that we can get a nice balanced group together, when we get to higher levels and start doing some of the fellowship quests this will become a lot more important

we should be looking roughly at 3 melee classes, with at least one guardian plus captain/champion/warden/burglar, 1 minstrel and a couple of ranged dps classes

I've played a few hours this afternoon hit level 6 playing as a elf/hunter and its pretty good, I have to get used to using the keyboard after spending so much time on a console and it might take me quite a long time before I use the shortcuts.

Character name :Vagel

yep still very tempted to get subscription again lol. my pc recommends  ultra high but runs smoother at very high.     as for a mix of classes, im  very used to the hunter, a change would be nice, say a captain or something. i dont have the balls to be a healer mind lol. yep im pretty sure i will get vip but will try out the free premium first to see my real limitations.

a captain would be good if we dont have a dedicated healer, alternatively I could go minstrel and you could try tanking with guardian or champ maybe

I already have a lev 14 minstrel I could use

and cagedthunder – I was online last night at the same time as you, keep an eye on your IMS tab in the chat window as I was trying to message you – I sent you an ingame email explaining it so check your mailbox next time you log on
