I'll probably play tonight if anyone wants to join me – it seems Thursday suits most people if we want a second group night in the week

here's the latest update on f2p from codemasters:

Dear players,

We wanted to give you an update as to the status of Free to Play
launching in Europe. Unfortunately there is no concrete news other than
to say we are working hard with Turbine to get the new LOTRO Free to
Play game code to you as quickly as we are able to. We are still
tracking end of the month for launch but will update you should this
alter in any way.

As we updated previously, things are looking good from an infrastructure
point of view here. There are other challenges we are facing but hope
these will be resolved soon.

As some of you have noticed we have enabled a bonus 5% XP event and free
travel as well as opening all LOTRO accounts that had lapsed. For those
of you that are new to LOTRO, you can start playing for free with our
trial which is available from: http://www.lotro-europe.com/trial.

As always, thanks for your patience and good humour during this period of waiting.

I've just found a really great podcast for learning how to play your class – its called lotroworld.com podcast and each episode focuses on a different class

so far they have done champion, captain, burglar, minstrel, lore-master, guardian, warden and runekeeper in that order – looks like the only one they havent done is the hunter, but that one is easy, just spam the pew-pew key init

I think you are over simplifying the hunter class.  There are at least 2 keys that you have to spam wink

of course I wasnt thinking

key 1 = pew

key 2 = pew

===>> pew pew, aggro aggro !! quick heal me im a squishy

…dead hunter

me too – if there are enough of us we could definitely continue with the epic – book 2 is a funny one as it spans the level ranges between 22-30 so we could make a start on this, but wont be able to finish it yet

we may need to help dave to complete book 1 though first??

please post in here whether you think you will be able to make it tonight

hello guys some bad news. yesterday my 8800gt bit the dust. started getting green dots on my screen and several blue screen of deaths. i tried everything, tried in another pc too. ive put in an old 8500gt and that works fine but its crap at gaming.   bit gutted as i pre ordered f1 2010 from steam too, but at least they  give refunds on pre orders. im gonna give lotro a try but i cant imagine it running too well. probably will have to cancel  for a while.

have fun with the game guys, i will be back very soooon.

That really sucks frown sorry to hear it,  but no worries – if and when you do get yourself a new card we'll see you back in middle earth

btw, I can highly recommend one of the new geforce gtx 460 cards – I got one recently and it runs lotro on ultra settings very smoothly

gtx 460 is pretty much todays equivalent as far as geforce cards go – relatively cool, low noise, low power consumption compared to most of the other geforce cards, you should be able to pick one up for about £150, a bit more if you want the 1gb version

I got this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/…..=GX-093-MS

the mad huge heatsink keeps it nice and cool so its very easy to overclock

i dont know how new your pc, is but you will need a pci-e slot on your mobo and a psu with 2 pci-e power cables to run a card like that

its a built pc and the psu  does have 2 sockets for 2 pci-e cables(850w and quite a good psu, i  can plug what cable i need into the psu to devices to save clutter) . the card 8800gt used a pci-e slot

so a card like that should be ok eh?

yes dave the card should be fine with that psu, the only other thing to check is that you have enough room under the card eg there isnt a sound card directly under it as it takes up 2 spaces with the big heatsink and fan

things seem to have gone a bit quiet of late – I guess the lack of free to play news has knocked the stuffing out of the nice momentmum that we had building up

given the problems we had on tuesday is anyone up for a meet up on sunday, or has everyone decided to play halo instead? wink

I should be around. I will be paying subs if it's not free to play by the time my free play runs out.  I think this has opened my eyes to MMO's and I will be looking maybe to take another one on sometime in the future.
