I might drop some dollar on this bad boy, I was impressed with the quicklook on GB. It seems slightly more accessible than the PSP version.

Hugo, edit your post so all the numbers appear at the top of the thread.  Also, how have they adopted a different scheme for MH, or will it just work if we have swapped friend codes?

I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I've added you Hugo.  You have to add me as well.  It's all very complicated! smile

I'll get myself one of those 'Wii Speaks' as I saw someone online with one the other day, but I think you're right about it only working if you've swapped friend codes.

We'll have to rock the xbox lives over the weekend, although if I can get to a shop on Friday….

Hmmmm…

I don't have tri but if someone can sell me on it I willpick it up. I already have speak from a bruef stint into animal crossing (loved the game just don't have the time even on the ds – maybe an iphone version?).

On an aside if Mat throws his code on here I will bloody gift him a zelda game on the vc (link to the past?). I think it's that important.

Good work Mym1nd. I just gifted LTTP to Brother Brown!

Isn't Animal Crossing a fun game? I got involved in another forum when it came out on the DS and had a couple of chaps over in my village 'Hotspur' when my girlfriend came rushing in and started attacking us all with axes! It was classically funny!! smile

Check out our Monster Hunter thread in the gaming section. It's marked up spoilers but there aren't really any spoilers on there as yet! It really is a great game!

Hmmm.  How to get Skype up and running?

I have a banger of an old laptop I could try PSP for which I may need a special headset!  I'll see what I can do!

Any idea of time?

Nice one Guerny, Skype works pretty well from the iPhone, have your charger to hand though, it'll drink the battery in about an hour!

I've finished my bitching in the kitchen for the night so I might fire up the old wii, see if my velociprey slaying skills translate to the big screen.

What an awesome three hours.

Many thanks to Hugo and Antman for a wonderful time out on the plains.

I think we may have all learned something from those expeditions – from the chilled out aquatic gathering mission to the chaotic wyvern quests.

Great fun.

Aye, it was proper bo, cheers guys. Maybe we can get on again before the bank holidays out.

I was a bit of a limp noodle as I've only started today and only had the starting equipment.

But next time Gadget….

Skype worked well too. My £3 headset did the trick.

Hullo chaps,

Are Hugo's screens from earlier representative of gameplay?  I am considering grabbing this but want to know if:
(a) it's worth full price or can I wait a couple of months for half price fun
(b) it is good single player if no one else is around
(c) it is worth firing up my Wii for – after about three months of not even being switched on!

Thanks.

P.S.  As an aside, I am not Phizzy – I like my Wii, and I appreciate that it has good titles.  There are serious games out there for the Wii.  Having decided to get cross-platform games on X360, I have more Wii games than PS3 games.  I own all the usual Nintendo fare (Zelda, Metroid, Smash Bros, Play, Sports, Fit, etc. as well as Mario Galaxy, Bros, Kart, Paper) and a few others including the big hitters – RE4, Okami, PES, No More Heroes, Lego Insert-Movie-Here.  So will this be a worthy addition and will it get my Wii back on the playlist?

Those screenies were taken with a camera by Rapscallion as we were playing so don't for one minute think they represent the graphics quality.

I've stuck 25 hours into the single player now and I'm loving it.

Definitely worth firing up your Wii for but you could probably wait for it to drop in price as I think its one of those long term games for those that get into it. So I expect there will still be a lot of people kicking around in a couple of months time.

Yup, good for me, I won't even attempt capturing that great Jaggi, as a party we can keep the smaller ones away from the trap.

Incidentally, I've figured out how to make Felvine bombs now, haven't tried it out yet but should prove funny.

What an epic couple of hours that was, real teamwork, bloody funny and you can't beat Antmans Horn!

There's one space left people, you know you want to really.

Yep, great fun.  I'm a bit tired this morning though, but once you've started hunting there's always time for one more go.  We've got to give that four Great Jaggi quest another go.  That was awesome.  I'm going to try and get my sword upgraded by next week.  No-one shall be safe! Thumbs Up

We need to get the rest of those low level quests out of the way as well and try to get onto the next tier.

I'm going to make some horns as well, hopefully.  Bloody excellent.

Oh, and Hugo, loving the Lance.  I've never been so excited to see another man's weapon.  The size of it!!!

Mr Shayler, you aint seen nothing until you've seen my new shiny switch-axe.

I was a fool and dropped 10,000z and loads of mats on upgrading the new-found weapon.

In it's primary form its a big axe, almost like a halberd. With quite fast swings it can kill a jaggia in 3 hits. Movement speed when it is drawn is between the sword and shield and great sword.

But when you wanna go apeshit, it switches into a great sword which crackles with red power when you swing. Movement speed takes a hit but you combo is never-ending so you have to turn while you're swinging. Until you have to reload it that is. I know, it seems daft but you need to reload your sword every 20 or so hits.

Oh, and there is no block, get swinging mofos Awesome

Antman – You Bastard, I want one!

I've maxed out my Lance for the time being because I don't think there's much chance of picking up 3 Lagiciarus tales in the near future Surprised

Already given it a go this afternoon.  Thought I'd change to the Switch Axe to give it a try and took it out into the woods for a spin.  Loved it! Thumbs Up

Got enough mats to upgrade to the Bone+ and nearly have enough to take it down the Barroth route.  I reckon if I take down one more I should have enough.  The other route is the Lagiacrus, but I can't see us taking any of them down soon.  If I go Barroth then the power unleashed when in sword form will be 'Paralysis' I think.  Should be fun.

Was also thinking about how to use it on multiplayer.  It'd have to be a 'everyone out of the way, I'm coming through' kind of tactic because this baby takes no prisoners, although I do love some of the poking moves that it has.  Quick, with a nice range.

I need to get a Bowgun up and running as well.  Really want to try that in MP.

Can't wait for next week – those four Great Jaggi's won't know what's hit them! Laugh
