Well I finally have time to introduce myself, it's amazing how much a time a baby and work takes up of your life.

I'm Chris a 40yr old gamer from sunny Northampton in the good ol UK. I'm a psychiatric night nurse by trade and booze hound by choice. I've been gaming since the days of the zx81 although realistically the spec. From there I went more the route of tabletop RPGs until the ST came along and Dungeon Master stole my heart/time/life. Then a break with the long overdue discovery of booze/women/clubs etc etc, coming back to the fold with the megadrive. From there it went as fololows – PS, xbox cube & PS2, to today with 360 Wii and PC which sadly is well overdue an upgrade or 5. I am currently tempted by onlive rather than upgrading my PC though.

I still call myself a gamer although I am lucky if I can find more than an hour a week gaming time as my ever increasing pile of shame will atest. The only upside of this is my gaming comes cheap i'm so far behind i'm still playing through well old stuff.

Lastly the important stuff -

Fave beverage -

non alc: earl grey tea

Alc: real ale/vodka

Fave biscuit -

Fig Roll

Should anyone want to know anything else feel free to ask I will answer eventually although as you may guess from this intro my time is very limited so please be patient and gentle with me.

Welcome aboard the good ship Midlife Gamer CthulhuLord!

I know what you mean about balancing family and gaming…makes it all the more precious when you do get a chance to game….like right now, I have a small window of opportunity that I have wasted by typing a message here rather than sneaking a quick lap or two on Forza….and now my time is up.

But before I go…..Fig Roll….? Fig? Roll?

AWESOME!

Thanx for the welcome especially taking precious gaming time to write them.

Sir Vimes a fig roll is most certainly a biscuit and to my mind the king of biscuits, with the humble rich tea being the queen.

Hey CthulhuLord/Chris,

Welcome along!  I'm still relatively new myself, but  I was given a really warm welcome both to the forums and in person at the Eurogamer Expo, so you've definitely made a good choice!

I'm guessing you're a Lovecraft fan then?  I've read a few of his stories–I remember actually laughing at Herbert West: Reanimator!  I also like the bits of continuity (especially about Cthulhu) that occur through Lovecraft's work.  Have you played Cthulhu Saves The World?  Old school RPG available on Steam for £2–definitely worth a go.

And ignore what everyone else says: fig rolls *are* biscuits, and they kick arse!

Take care; see you on the forums,

PilarGore

Welcome Mr CthulhuLord!

I love the whole Cthulhu thing, having role played the game of the same name a fair few years ago and still enjoy the odd (and they are definitely odd) Lovecraft short story.

I would like to stay and add more but I can hear the shuffling footsteps on the stairs.  I fear the Dark Ones have found me….or are they just after my jammy dodgers?…
