Hi All,

Just tuned in to the podcast for the first time a week or so ago: very entertaining. Looking forward to future episodes and catching up on some old ones.

Never know the best way to introduce myself, so please bear with me smile

A bit about me. Well, I'm most definitely in the MLG category (will be 40 in November) Originally from Glasgow, but have been living in Bournemouth for the past eight years with my wonderful long term partner. Unfortunately, she has almost no interest in games (apart from Tetris on my old Gameboy and Tapfish on her ipod), which means any time spent gaming is a "waste of time"!

One and a half jobs severely eats in to my game time. Being a night owl (and when real life isn't getting in the way), my usual game time is 11pm-2am, once the good lady has gone to bed. Happy for any of you to look out for me then smile Must say, my reflexes just aren't what they used to be and am constantly being handed my arse on a plate whenever I venture online :P I'm very much a casual gamer.

Gaming history. First console was the Atari 2600 when I was around 7-8. Since then, Sinclair Spectrum, NES, Master System, SNES, Mega Drive, Gamegear, Gameboy, Atari ST, Amiga 500, Atari Jaguar(!), Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Playstation, PC, Gamecube, current platform of choice is the Xbox 360. Biggest regret was selling my Dreamcast frown

Favourite game. Couldn't possibly say, but for sure the best console ever, in my opinion, is the SNES. Super Mario World, Zelda:  Link to the Past, Super Mario Kart, Super Metroid, Pilotwings, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, the list of truly classic games goes on… Dropped 350 quid on an imported US SNES with Super Street Fighter 2 and it was worth every penny.

Currently playing far too many games and not finishing any of them. Must try to be more disciplined… Limbo was a lovely few hours and money well spent. Will probably go back and try to finish Alan Wake, although I've just picked up Red Dead Redemption, so we'll see. Most looking forward to the 3DS. Hoping it will be out in time for my birthday, as I'm hoping to pick one up when I'm in the States.

When I'm not gaming, I try to get out sailing as much as possible. Also enjoy mountain biking, walking, music and food & drnk.

Well, that's probably more than you cared to know. Hope I can be as active as possible on the forums and looking forward to getting to know you all better.

Cheers!

Good work brother.  I high approve of your introduction and great gaming pedigree, except the Amiga! Thumbs DownSmile

How come you've passed on the Wii?

You haven't said if you have still got all your old consoles and games but the Wii Virtual Console is a great place to delve back into the old classics.  I just gifted one of the members on here a copy of Link to the Past.  I wonder if he's played it yet!!

Welcome to the boards and I hope to see you about on here or perhaps online at some point! Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up

Welcome to the mlg mate, I have a very similar gaming past (barring the US Snes, very cool) but my weapon of choice is the ps3.  See you on the forums.

Looks like you missed out on the most incredible gaming machine ever, the GBA SP, but that's still a pretty good history.

Welcome!

Don't worry about Hugo, we like outdoor stuff.  As long as it involves precipitation, the atomic number 79 and Cannock Chase then we're good to go!

Yep, the SP is pure awesomeness!  How can you love the SNES and not love a hand-held version that fits in your pocket and plays Advance Wars?

I gave my SP power charger away with my original DS when I gave it to Scott's daughter a good couple of years ago.  I could not believe that it powered up and let me play Zelda for a while until I turned it off.  Nintendo make proper systems.  With proper batteries.  With proper games.  What more can you ask?

Thanks for the welcome Smile

Still have most of the consoles and games, apart from the Sega ones and the Amiga Wink. Even my old 2600 Surprised They're mostly gathering dust in the loft these days.

I don't know why I missed out on the Wii: I feel ashamed Embarassed I think at the time it was a choice between that or the 360 and I went for it instead. Really have to get one though: can't believe I haven't played either of the Mario Galaxies or the new Zeldas. In the old days, I wouldn't have thought twice about getting them all, but now mortgages and the like changed all that Cry

I took a break from console for a few years and spent most of that playing MMORPGS, hence why I missed out on the PS2 and original Xbox. SWG and EQ2 were my poison and I also have a lifetime sub for LOTRO, although I haven't played it in ages.

Hmm, beverage and biscuit? Tricky one… would have to say a cappuccino with a chocolate hob nob to dunk. Yum! Awesome

Hey Azrial, that'll be a bit of Bowie (genius!), a bit of Trek and a bit of Wars Cool

Lofty, I loved Cannon Fodder on the Amiga, but never had it for the SNES. I had the GB version, it was bloody impossible with the d-pad! War has never been so much fun Thumbs Up

Labyrinth is one of those guilty pleasures, and one i'd never admit to enjoying, but whenever i hear its name i immediatly think of Jennifer Connelly in Rocketeer. Nice Smile

Welcome starman.

I feel slightly uneasy watching Labyrinth since it makes me think of Jennifer Connelly going arse to arse with some random whore in Requiem for a Dream.

According to one review it makes 'Trainspotting look like Teletubbies', sounds like a right laugh.
