Hi Midlife Gamers,
I've been a regular podcast listener for the past twenty episodes or so (introduced by gaming mates over at The Claw). Approaching my 40s so I guess I'm midlife now so I feel I should register.
Been gaming since 1983 I think (Frogger and Pac Man on the school's BBC Micro) and since then been through the Speccie/C64, Amiga/Atari ST, Archimedes, many PCs (since Doom in '93) and a good few consoles (since ColecoVision, alas). Currently mostly a 360 gamer since having a baby but I've got the PS3 for exclusives and a PC. Did have a Wii but flogged it as all I did was dust the thing. Had a 3DS too but flogged that as well until they redo it properly with two thumbsticks. Got my eye on a Vita but will have to be careful of the missis with that.
Game(s) of the generation: Demon's Souls and Dark Souls of course.
Chris

Welcome to a great community. I only roll PS3 myself, but you'll find plenty of members with 360s and PCs to partake in some multiplayer shenanigans.
I've just pre-ordered my Vita, tell the missus that she'll benefit from having more access to the TV.
If you like RPGs (Dark and Demon Souls are too hardcore for me), you can't go far wrong with Skyrim. 70+ hours in and I'm still loving it. Get it on the 360, as the PS3 version does have a few problems (fortunately, I haven't experienced them).

Yes, I've got the "telly access" card all ready for her. We'll see.
I've got Skyrim and it's the usual Bethesda business (mostly a ParcelForce simulator with awkward combat). Looks great but it started getting too easy once you're high level (everything but dragons is one-shotable once Archery is at 90). I much prefer it to Oblivion even though it's largely the same thing but a bit snowier and shoutier.

'Snowier and shoutier' – that's splendid. And true. I think it's more playable than Oblivion as well, but that's just my opinion. I got out of the first dungeon at the beginning and then didn't know what to do next, so er, gave up. Excellent gaming heritage you have there as well! I believe it is customary at this point to name you favourite biscuit. That's biscuit mind, not a cake.

Morrowind, on the other hand, was excellent from start to finish. Went through that to completion three times (vanilla, with expansion 1, with expansion 2). Loved it.
Favourite biscuit used to be the Jammie Dodger, but then I watched a programme on how they are made which put me right off them. Never again will a Jammie Dodger pass my lips.
You can't really go wrong with a Bourbon.

Welcome Systems.
Don't think I want to know about the jammy dodgers as it would prob put me off all biscuits, though as I need to cut down on such things it might not be a bad idea .
Love dark souls but prefer skyrim as its just fun to be able to kick some booty rather than have to go so far each time you die at a boss just to get back to them to try again.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
@Caliburn M: Don't worry, I'll keep the secret of Jammie Dodgers to myself. It's one pleasure denied to me now.
@Brother Brown: Borderlands eh? I completed that on PS3 back in the day. I presume you're going through it on 360? I could be tempted to do it again but I've got Dead Island on the go which is pretty much the same as Borderlands Zombie Ned set in the tropics. Well worth a look.
@MaGe1974: I guess from your name that you were born in the same year as me. Won't be long to 40 now…

Hi,
I thought I'd make myself a bit more visible on the boards before I presumed to submit questions for the sexy quiz. I reckon I could rustle up a few so I'll have a think at work and send them in (as two different batches of course).
Invert Y Axis – I always invert my Y Axis. Probably because I came to FPS games from flight sims so when I look down it's like diving. Or something.
I don't "do" Facebook/Twitter, but I do have accounts on both just to keep my hand in so to speak. I never post anything on them, just have a nose at everyone else.

Welcome along systems,
You get the honour of the my first post upon returning after an incident we shall not speak of left me unable to communicate over the medium of forums.
Glad you finally decided to take the plunge and show yourself around these parts, I’m sure you'll feel right at home. Put your feet up and grab your beverage of choice.
See you around…..oh and good to see another 360 gamer but if your looking for community to game with (When time permits either add myself GT: DiscoBeaver and throw a request to GT:amidlifegamer. It might say the list is full but you can still see the friends list which should show pretty much most of the 360 gaming community.
Have fun!

Thanks DiscoBeaver,
Glad to hear you're back in action. Beverage of choice is of course an ale.
I'm a 360 and PS3 gamer, but getting games running on a PS3 is very hit and miss compared with the glorious Live service on 360. You can certainly see where your £30 a year subs goes.
On PSN and Live I'm GT: SystemsUK as some other sod had already pinched "Systems" on both of them. You win some, you lose some.
I've almost finished my sexy quiz too. I've done one for Darren to answer so now to think of one for Matt.

@SirSamuelVimes – yes, cracking year. And Chuckie Egg on the BBC – what more could you want? Apart from Elite on the BBC…
I see you've got 8 Plats on PSN. Blimey, I've only ever been close to one and that was Borderlands (need to hit the level cap for my first plat).

I still regret not getting that Plat for Borderlands. I had everything else apart from the "get to level 50" one which would have done it. I packed in playing at about level 45 I think.
Might pick the GOTY edition up if I see it for a fiver or so and finish it off.
