Greetings all from the City of Steel! As a dedicated MLG and a genuine fan of the Podcast I've been slowly plowing my way through the back catalogue – right from episode 1.

I'm at episode 70 (ish) at the moment and just wanted to say that despite the reviews being out-of-date, the content of these podcasts are just great. If you've missed any of the back episodes, don't be shy and start downloading – there is some good chat and very funny moments, AND some helpful reviews of games we may have missed to add to our pile of shame.

Just to emphasise my dedication, each back episode was costing me £1.99 to download due to my mobile contract having data limits (now sorted thankfully with said company!), so a £57 phone bill later and I'm still a happy man. Onwards and Upwards, and keep up the good work chaps.

Welcome along Mr Mad-link,

Always nice to hear from a fellow fan of the work Mat and Daren do. I have to admire your dedication, but £57 for all those hours of  the gents making noises in your ears…..bargain if you ask me.

Now that your sampling the delights of the podcasts and have branched into the world of its equally great community we have a few questions for you.

Firstly, how did you come across the podcast?

And then, Biscuit and Beverage of choice?

Lastly, what kind of gaming history you got, you part of the new school or rocking with the old schoolers?

Make sure you take some time to get to know the place, we really have some great folks on the forums and they're all lovely (for the most part) so feel free to get involved.

awesome

You're so wise… Like a minature Buddha covered in hair!

Hi Mad-link

Welcome to MLG i love the crazy dedication to the podcast. Is there not a computer you could use to download them confused

Anyway taking my cue from mat what is your favourite biscuit and beverage of choice. I will warn you there is a wrong answer to this question so think long and hard. For a clue reading other new member posts might be a good idea wink and i will pass the baton onto the next member for the follow up question

Dam Discobeaver piped me to the post on that one

Much appreciated All, a warm welcome well received.

The download-for-cash issue was a simple case of moving home – my broadband went awol for about 2 months so I was using the HTC data connection via my laptop to get the back issues. I knew it was costing me but hey I was happy to listen to the boys chatting away, and it was worth it for the Stephen Hawking and Susan Boyle gags, not to mention 'Farmageddon'.

My background as a gamer is a long one – oddly enough, yesterday I got back from a bender in Amsterdam with my best buddy and we were recalling how we used to go down to the village pub in deep Lancashire with a bag full of 10p's to play a league on the upright footie machine when we were about 14 (I can't recall the make, I'm now 37) with a pad and pen to record all the scores and league standings. Quazatron on the spectrum 48k (and Way of the exploding Fist), Paperboy on the commodore 64, and then a revelation (note the pun) when I played Tomb Raider 2 on the PS1. t the time it was mind bendingly good, so beautiful. I'm still a fan of the old Tombies, they remind me of the days when I used to be a poorly student and I'd play them for about 10 hrs solid whilst skiving from college and recovering from some heinous self-inflicted flu bug. Now very much in to the PS3 and interested in the IOS games that are being discussed on the podcasts.

The Podcast – stumbles across it on iTunes after listening to some very average PS3 podcasts from other sources….

Biscuit of choice – got to be a plain choc digestive.*

Beverage – I love my beer, but my fave is plain old apple juice. Oh, and expensive coffee.

Quick trivia question – 10 bonus points for the first one on here who can name the podcast episode when the intro music changed (from the wah-wah and drums to 'World of Sport' type thing)

I'll spread the word here in Sheffield –  I love how you guys also fail to finish (and in some cases even start) games, just like me.

*no idea what that answer should have been, but don't care. Slightly jaded after my trip…..

Hi and welcome Mad-link.  It was also the Tomb Raider games that got me drawn into the PS3 although I mostly just watched other people playing them for years before I actually got brave enough to pick a controller up and have a little go and realised I could do it.  Ha ha theres no stopping me now.  But I always remember how amazing those graphics of the PS1 were on Tomb Raider. Maybe catch you on the PS3 sometime I'm well into multiplayer now.  smile
