Hi

I just wanted to introduce myself to the MLG community.  My name is Seri (AKA Doberman Airfoils) and I'm addicted to Midlife Gamer.

I can't remember exactly when it all began but it must have been the best part of two years since I first subscribed to the MLG podcast.  I have enjoyed listening to the witty banter between Matt and Daren to such an extent that I can only describe it as voyeurism.

Until now I have been almost exclusively a solo game player, without dabbling much into multiplayer or online gameplay.  Originally a dedicated PC gamer, I also play the DS, Wii, iPod Touch, PS2, and most recently I have acquired a PS3.  My online experience has been isolated to a few games of Alien Breed (via Steam on PC) and the frustrating rage quitters on Wii's FIFA games.  To get the most out of my new PS3 console I thought I would dip into the MLG forum to see if find some online action with decent people.

With time and money at a premium I thought I would start my PS3 gaming with a mixture of long haul and quick fire games in a bid to catch up on some of the past games I've missed out on without spending too much money.  I'm currently sharing myself between Fallout 3 GOTY, Assassins Creed, FIFA 10, and Dead Space (with Oblivion GOTY, Killzone 2, and Tiger Woods 10 on my new pile of shame.)

My favourite biscuit at the moment is the good, old fashioned Rich Tea (although I confess to not being a dunker – I prefer my biscuits dry.)  And(aside from the ale) there's nothing like a cup of dark roast coffee to see through the day.

Anyway, I hope to dip into the forums as often as I can.  Speak with you laters.

There's nothing like the challenge of a dry biscuit. With a pre-moistened mouth you can achieve many things.

Oh and I don't think you can look too far beyond a trail of tomato ketchup on your hot sausage sandwich. I usually drizzle some tabasco sauce on there aswell.

Cheers.  I will add myself to the MLG steam community and check out what games people are playing.  At present, I've got a very poor showing in my Steam library as my PC isn't up to running the newer, heavyweight titles.

do you just avoid dunking the rich tea or any biscuit ?

i can understand the rich tea as you need about 4…and nothing more than half a second dunk to get a good tasty mouthful without the risk of the half cup of soggyness

I don't think I've dunked any biscuit since I was about 7 or 8 years old.  I don't want to call it OCD, but I found it a little disconcerting having unidentified floating objects circling around my drink.

You're right, Rich Teas make for very poor dunking (you might have seen an hilarious Peter Kay routine once going through the dunkability of an assortment of biscuits.)

Welcome aboard the good ship MLG Seri!
Dunking or not, we take all manner of persuasions here. Thanks to consumerism we all have a choice!

Great that you finally signed up after being such an avid listener for so long…the message from Matt & Daren at the end of each podcast finally got through to someone!

You’ll find all manner of good stuff going on here….PC or PS3. I’m only 360, so I’ll wish you well and fuck off back to my single console existence.

Oh, I recommend subscribing to the RSS Feed for the forums. A great way to see whats happening on the site.

I can fully empathise with this stance,  Im not keen on the floating bits especialy when its a borbon/milk combination as it just heightens their visibility.   However not dunking obviously has a detremental effect on the biscuit consumption speed so i tend to find a bite of the selected buscuit followed by a sip of the beverage before swallowing works well….. sort of a hybrid in mouth dunking process.

Welcome to the mighty MLG sir…. I have just recently got back into PC multiplayer fabulousness so hopefuly catch you online my good fellow smile

Hey dude,

Consumption speed of a biscuit (Rich Tea or otherwise) is an interesting idea to consider.  Apparently the world record set at the World Biscuit Eating Championships is 46 biscuits in a minute.  Now when the Ukranian record holder set this, I doubt that he had a mug of his favourite hot beverage beside him moisten his palette or the biscuit.  I would imagine that it might add a few extra seconds to complete the motion of dunking the biscuit, then tapping off the excess fluids before carefully lifting it to mouth-height for the bite.

Also, it seems eating a biscuit is far more dangerous than we give it credit for… check this out … http://www.bbab.org.uk/news/bi…..ds-tragedy

That's the way the cookie crumbles, I guess.  Anyway enough biscuit talk, I'm ready to find me a gaming discussion.

Thanks pal, might catch up with you online. wink
