Hi all,

Long (long) time lurker and podcast listener finally ready to take the plunge. I'm only 28 but given my love of beer, biscuits, baked goods and video games, I think it's safe to assume that 60 would be a good innings so I'm classing 28 as "mid-life".

My first console was a hand me down Atari 2600 (first addiction – BattleZone!) shortly followed by the glorious Commodore 64 days when men were men, I was a boy and new games cost 99p from the petrol station. I graduated to a Sega Master System where I spent a good 20 minutes throwing a paddy at the fact my free Alex the Kidd wasn't in the box only to realise it was built into the systemangry. From there is was a short stop up to the Megadrive days where games didn't cost 99p anymore, but for a mere £60 you could get Virtua Racing, which had a whole third "D" so that was totally worth it.

Since then it's been a bit of a gaming hussy – PSone, PS2, Nintendo64, Gamecube, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, Xbox and more handhelds than I care to mention. Now I split my time between the 360 and PS3 (though mostly 360), not to mention the iPhone, iPad and iMac (yes – I have sold my soul to Apple). I also have a 3DS but that just sits in it's dock mocking me since I completed Ocarina of Time

Currently I am playing Deus Ex on 360, Catherine on PS3 and Tiny Tower (help me!) on iOS – but I am really looking forward to Gears 3, Skyrim, Assassins Creed Revelations and Uncharted 3 for later in year. My wallet is fearful of the next couple of months…..

To answer the usuals – biscuit of choice at the moment is the malted milk (aka The Moo-Cow biscuit), a case of John Smith's has recently gone down a treat on the drink front and on the sausage butty question, it's red or dead!

Look forward to seeing you on the forums/gaming with you allthumbs-up

Hey welcome along buddy,

Nice intro, you had pretty much the same gaming past as i did but i went the way of the Amiga and the nintendos up until the PS1 where I started earning money and spent it all on games and never really stopped.

Glad to see you took the plunge and jumped on the forums as you cant really find a nicer community. If you havnt already as you mostly game on the Xbox, try affin the official MidlifeGamer gamertag so you can at least see who's who.

Its 'amidlifegamer', the invite will probably sit pending but this way you can see the friends of MidlifeGamer and get your 'adding on'.

Out of interest, you heading down to london for the Eurogamer Expo this year. Theres some hardcore plans cooking on the midlife front and its deffo something you need to get involved with if your attending.

Good answer on the biscuit BTW, Have fun and enjoy the forums. thumbs-up

Thanks for the warm welcome Mr Beaver – I shall definitely drop a request to the main midlifegamer gamertag

Unfortunately no Eurogamer plans for this year but I'm sure there will be interesting tales of assorted shenanigans and hi-jinx appearing on these boards

Welcome aboard the good ship MLG Robosaurus!

Nice gaming history for one so young wink.

Thanks for finally coming out of the shadows and signing up…was there anything in particular that made you do it?

I have to say thats a rather bland biscuit choice…you could at least go for the Sporty Malted Milk ones…you know, the ones with matchstick men playing archery and what not.

Will you be joining up for  Gears n Beers v3.0 sessions when it's released?

See you online etc.

Yeahy someone else joins us who won't take the piss out of my slightly Lancashire type accent ha ha. rofl

Welcome to the forum hooded lurker and hope to join you in some games at some point.  I too am not going to the Expo on account of having no one to accompany me boo hoo poor me Lol.  Maybe next time I hope. I'm seriously thinking of bribing the local celebrity wanderer "Johnny welly-man" to come with me he'll do anything for a styrofoam cup of tea and a bacon and sausage butty.  Ha ha.  I'd have to get him some better clothes though last time I spotted him he was wearing a womans dressing gown.  And no it deffo wasn't mine!   awesome

Nothing bland with a malted milk – it's the ultimate stealth biscuit. It looks plain but has a smooth interior that gives it an edge.

And Gears n Beers v3.0 is a definite go – I might be a bit rusty as I haven't played much MP Gears for a while, but "skill is temporary, class is permanent" so I'm sure I won't disgrace myselfcool
