I know this question doesn't really fit a gaming forum but has anyone seen this yet?
Seen two episodes so far – the second is your typical standalone storyline in 40 min episode but the extended length first episode definitely freaked my mind. Put it this way, I've never seen the first episode of a series reveal so much…can it possibly sustain the intensity?
Well worth a look if you like your quirky supernatural type series but it's not entirely comfortable viewing.

Wife told me about this last week and we watched episode 1 last night.
freeeaaaaky…but loved it, especially after the let down of paranormal 3
Never seen anything like it, or even structured like it.
Only seen 45mins but basically every scene messes with your head. Scenes are often intermixed with random snippets of fucked up shit. The dialogue is disturbing and snappy and there is no recovery time – messed up shit happens and then right into the next scene with more messed up shit. Nobody behaves according to type, but not in an obnoxious 'oooh i'm quirky' way.
Plus it very quickly hints at deeper back-story, but not playing towards the audience – it's just passed over like you're not meant to make sense of it. Like you're dropped into this horror and it's all the more unsettling because you've no idea what's really going on, just that anything could happen at any time without the usual hollywood clues.
Worth it just because it's so original.

Cheers Dan.
Glad I'm not the only one that felt that way having watched the first episode. Of all the strange characters introduced (and boy are there some strange ones), I found Jessica Lange terrifying!

she was my favourite character too. when she appeared i was expecting some desperate housewives next door prom queen but..yeah..not that at all. and the throw-away comment she makes to the maid at the end.
the way it's all delivered in such a matter of fact way – no camera queues or musical prompts, and no snappy comebacks in the dialogue. Just…shit…did that happen.

@ GoddTodd, just wrenched myself away from the genius that is Batman AC to post…Well worth watching, at least grab the first episode.
@Dan, found easily the most horrifying thing yet about AHS. Just viewed a poster promoting the series on t'web and it says 'from the co-creators of Glee'!!!
Whatever you do, don't eat the cupcakes…

Nice one lads, after reading this post I got on the P2P thing and downloaded the first 4 episodes, did them all in one night! I gotta say it's bonkers on a level with Twin Peeks and Kingdom Hospital, which is a good thing. It's now joined the ranks of Dexter, Fringe and Walking Dead for taking away my gaming time lol

Watched the first episode and a hell of a lot is thrown at you. At the start, i tried to persuade my wife to watch it with the lights off but she was having none of it. I called her chicken. By the end of the programme, I was glad that we didn't!
For any fans of the walking dead, I would recommend reading the graphic novels. They follow a different story path to the tv series (a much more bleak and violent one it has to be said).
Currently into Treme, a drama about new Orleans after hurricane katrina. Made by the makers of the wire. Worth checking out.

Currently 7 episodes in, it's OK, nothing new or terrifying, but better than other crap on the TV of late.
