If he can afford to buy 2 $80 puppets, he can't be that poor, mind you, it's a very good display, so I might be inclined to giving him my spare change, if I wasn't so terrified of approaching him, that guy really gets into the role of it.

Well, he did an interview with CNN and it turns out he's just some puppeteer who borrowed the sign from a real homeless guy that sits somewhere off camera during the recording. He was talking about how it wasn't about him, though, but how it was just about poverty and homelessness in general, which fits the song well.

That is some heavy puppet work there. Puppets should beware though, it may seem fun to be worked so hard. But it's a slippery slope, don't do your pelvic floor excercises and you'll end up like this:
