Hey folks, I know the podcast has the great 'soundtrack of our gaming lives' sections but I thought why restrict it to just in game soundtracks, I personally love to put on a album or two on while I'm playing a game where I feel the in game soundtrack is a little lacking so I thought I'd put out questions to you guys on your attitudes music and games and see what people like to do
1st: Do you put on your own music while playing games or do you just listen to in game sound track?
2nd: which band do you feel accompanies your Favourite games and why?
For me Personally I like to put on a bit of Kasabain or similar on whilest a play a FPS with the song Vlad the Impaler being a personal favourite.

Not me mate – I'm all about the ingame soundtrack (but then I usually play with headphones on anyway)…

I agree with Jesus. If I don't go with the ingame sountrack it makes me feel disjointed from the game.. if that makes sense.
There's a few games where I've thought I could have done better with the music though, and yeah Kasabian would be right up there for FPS.
Check out the soundtrack for Battlefield 2: Vietnam DLC, Creedence, Buffalo Springfield, bit of Wagner while flying in the choppers over the tree tops with your squad mate on the door gun etc. Fucking awesome.

I go with in gamer music unless its a driving game where you have heard the soundtrack too much or something that doesn't take away from the game experience.

I tried using my own music once (through the "use own music selection" on the Xbox) while playing PGR3, and have to agree it took me away from the game.
On the other hand I've listened to many, many, many albums while playing Minecraft, even though the music my C418 is very chilled, I find I need something a little more perky to keep me going.

Only ever listen to in game music, though when I played Eve used to watch lots of TV at the same time .

I can say that my highest Geo Wars 2 (Pacifism) score was while listening to King for a Day by jamiroquai

Depends on the game. Anything story-based has to be the in-game soundtrack, but for anything else:
Driving games – Pendulum/The Prodigy
Full House Poker – The "Ocean's 11" soundtrack
UFC Trainer – Metallica "Master of Puppets" or my own pre-made mixes.
