Hello mighty Midlife gamer community,

As some of you may have seen im on a mammoth task of pushing the old overtime in to enable me to buy a new laptop as my current system is coughing up smoke and leaking out of its USB ports (May not be 100% factual)

Looking to spend about £499-£550 on a new machine but im not all that fussed for gaming use and I'm a pretty much console stalwart.

Main usages are media playback DVD/Digital Media – Web Browsing  and maybe some audio recording/basic editing (This is for the GOTM poscast)

Had a brief look and i've seen a couple of machines that seem to fit the bill but wanted to see if you sexy peeps can shed some more light on it.

Cheers in advance

Your friend and community manager

So I've managed to find a new laptop but heres the dilema.

There are two models of the same laptop, Almost the exact same spec just the one is Gun metal Grey and has a Blu-Ray player.

The other is Silver and only carries the Standard DVD drive (Both do the whole DVD RW thing)

The issue is the DVD model is £100 cheaper then the Blu-ray. In terms of a laptop having a bluray player is the additional £100 worth it?

LENOVO Bluray

LENOVO DVD

Any guidence would help, Thanks awesome

No i do which currently sits in the bedroom for Mrs Discobeaver.

Im just thinking If i have a Blu ray collection and whenever we go away we tend ot take the laptop with us. considering the screen res isnt all that great would having a Blu Ray player make any difference?

I see what you mean now, i must admit the blueray one looks sexy but it depends if you have a big blueray collection.
