OnLive doesn't have built in wifi (which seems v short-sighted) so u need a wired connection.

My router is upstairs and my TV is downstairs.  Don't really want to run a 30 foot cable down the stairs or shell out on a wirless bridge.

So can I use my laptop to receive the wireless signal and then send it to the onlive system via a ethernet cable? If so how?

Thanks in advance clever people!smile

Best thing to do would probably get a ethernet adapter that uses the power lines in your house. Plug one in near the router and connect an ethernet cable to the router on one end, and the powerline adapter on the other, then plug the other adapter in near your telly and connect a second ethernet cable from the adapter to the onlive box. You can pick up a pair for about 50 quid.

You can use as a laptop as a wireless bridge though. There's a bit of configuration to do, and this might help: http://askville.amazon.com/lap…..Id=1489124

Agreed, the power line adapter are the best route to go, I would however go for the 200Mbps ones to maintain a decent connection.

I get around 5-6Mb through mine, and that's going from the front to the back of the house and up a floor.

have to agree with the guys here. I use Power Line adapters where I can and they work perfectly. no unsightly trailing cables from one room to the next.

Onlive consoles don't work too well with Wifi from what I've read, but heres the officialFAQ excert from the official page

If you do not have a wired broadband connection near your TV and you are not familiar with setting up network connections, then we urge you to contact OnLive technical support for help. You can email us at support@onlive.com.It’s generally not that hard to do, but each home situation is different, and we’d be happy to walk you through the hookup process.

If you are familiar with setting up network connections, then there are several options:

Generally speaking, you’ll get more reliable results with a wired connection (Ethernet, a coax bridge or powerline adapter) than with a wireless connection (e.g. Wi-Fi).

The easiest solution is to run an Ethernet cable from your broadband router to your TV, if that is practical.

If you have a good Wi-Fi signal near your TV and there are not nearby sources of wireless interference, then Wi-Fi should work fine. A good way to determine whether you have a good Wi-Fi signal near your TV is to place a laptop near the TV and connect to OnLive on your laptop through your Wi-Fi network. If you get good quality and reliable results, then a wireless bridge may be a good choice. Alternatively, you can use a powerline adapter or a coax bridge. Learn More

Do not hesitate to contact us if you are having trouble with the hookup process. We’re happy to help.

there is also a live chat feature available.

Hope that helps

I've got onlive running in an upstairs room using plug in internet adapters from Amazon, also it gives you an option to use a wireless bridge when you start the game system.
