Hi Guys,
I just came across this appeal which really touched me. Corey is a 2 year old boy with a very aggressive childhood cancer (Neuroblastoma). He is currently undergoing chemotherapy but he really needs speciallist treatment that is not available in the UK.
Corey's family are trying to raise money to send him to the USA, in order to get these treatments which are proven and will vastly increase his chance of beating this.
If you can spare abit, please donate, or at least help to spread the word by tweeting, or posting up on your facebook, and help give this beautiful little boy a chance, he deserves it.
Thanks for reading,
Miso

Ah its a good cause and its terribly sad that in this day and age our children are still suffering when there are treatments available in other countries. Its just not fair. Although I have to say that its also unfair to just single out the one little boy out of all the thousands of others appealing at the same time makes me feel like shit that we can't just help them all.

Same here Cherry. It does make me feel like shit that we can't help them all. I just noticed this one and I can't say why out of all the sick children in the world, but it really upset me and I had to do something, so I'm going to start appealing for him. I know there are tons and tons of people that are in desperate need of help, but if I can help just one surely that's something better than nothing…

Not wishing to start a debate on politics but if there is a treatment available that would without a doubt help that little boy and others like him then it really should be down to the Government to make sure that he gets it and sooner rather than later. Even if it means sending him abroad. It amazes me that as a country we can send so much money to other countries to help their disasters etc when so many of our own people are suffering unnecessarily in some cases. Also if that was my child I would be bombarding my local Helath Care Trusts to insist they fund this treatment if I could prove that the success rates were high enough to warrant it of course. Anyway I hope he gets his treatment and soon.

Yep, well I think they have done that and the government simply aren't willing to help. Your point has been made several times by the people supporting his cause, unfortunately there isn't a fat lot that us 'little people' are able to do as far as 'pulling strings' goes.
Either way, I'm sure he's worth every penny, especially to his family, and I know if that were my little boy I'd be doing all I could to raise the money to give him the best possible chance of survival. It's insane that this family are faced with this near impossible dilema when we fork out millions to help other countries in crisis, but so it goes, the world is a very unfair place and more often than not makes very little sense.
His treatment is going to cost in excess of £250,000. A ridiculous
amount indeed. Who are they to put a price on the life of a little boy?
It's in cases like this that the 'little people' have to pull together to do amazing things, for the amazing people that are overlooked by today's society.

That is indeed a rather ridiculous amount and it is definitely going to take them a hell of a long time to raise that money if they ever actually do. As for there not being a lot us little people can do thats just not true people strike, march and demonstrate in numbers all the time and most achieve what they set out to change. I'm not too sure the same could be said for the fund raising thing.
I know from personal first hand experience of something very similar to this that petitioning parliament and involving local MP's helps as did my persistent total nuisance making of myself to the local NHS Care Trust Board and also badgering the life out of the actual hospitals Chief Executive. I did have extensive proof that the treatment would be beneficial to my daughter and also that the cost of funding her treatment would far outway the cost of caring for her without it. Lots of people do the same thing as I did every day and get the treatments they deserve that way far quicker than trying to rely on fund raising. I am more of a 'get on and make something happen' person I won't just wait and see if I want something I want it right now!
I do wish them well however but I do think its a mammoth almost impossible task to raise that amount of money if the lad is so ill now before time runs out. As sad as it is. Good luck to the family!

Always hard to single one child out amongst all those in need. I have done what little I can in this case.
I personally have so far received some good support from both the NHS and a local charity in my area for my son Adam, though I know many who don't. In fact since he was born I have started noticing a lot more how many disadvantage, disabled, sick and special needs kids there are out there and it is truly amazing.
It should never happen to anyone, but it so often does, yet we never talk about it. Maybe if we did talk more would be done to address some of the issues you have both touched on here.
