As winter sets in I'd like to take a minute of your time and ask you to think about the less fortunate souls who are suffering most at this time of year.
Driving home from work yesterday morning, 3 degrees centigrade (and we all know it's centigrade really), I passed a group of four cyclists, and then further on a group of three cyclists. Then, driving home this morning, at 2 degrees centigrade, I passed a group of three cyclists.
What could possibly compel a man or woman, on the coldest days of winter so far, to bust out the lycra, form a posse, and hold up the traffic on the public highways? Only one explanation makes any sense.
Ignorance.
These poor souls are obviously ignorant to the existence of videogames. They have never known the joy of cranking up the thermostat and playing games in their pants. They probably don't even know how to make breakfast out of cold leftover pizza.
So take a moment and think of all the people you know. How many times have you heard someone say something like "Well, it gets me out of the house…"? Next time you hear such a remark, don't just nod and smile and let it pass. Challenge it, and help these people to realise there is a better way, a warmer way, and (especially if I'm driving past you) a safer way. Introduce them to the gamer way.
Just a thought.
