O.K. Brits, lets do something more univeral.
What's your favorite chocolate?
In the states, the standard by which we measure chocoate is a simple Hershey Bar.
I think this is the gold standard for true simple milk chocolate.
But there are better chocolates out there. Scharfenburger is a local fave. Ghirardelli is overated in my opinion but thier little caramel and mint squares are quite tasty. But those arn't chocolate plain and simple.
I'm not talking candy bars, I'm talking just the chocolate bars mam.
Godiva? Do they make a bar?
Cadbury. Blech! Too sweet and grainy!
Supreme Hot Chile Pepper Chocolate…….
Now we're talking!!!!!! That shit be good!!!!!
But strangly my most orgasmic chocolate experiance came from a Morrit's Ice Cube. Soft. Silky. Sweet. Mnnnn.
As an adult, I still think the Supreme Hot Chile Pepper is the best, Hershey the best simple chocolate, but those damn Ice Cube's will always have a place in my heart as my favorite first time chocolate experiance.

WRONG!
Now go sit in the corner and think about what you said. Hershey isn't chocolate, it's road sweepings.
Green and Blacks Butterscotch is my fav bar.

Green and Blacks Maya Gold. Very nice.
But not as nice as a Ritter Sport Cappuccino. Delicious. Effectively impossible to find (up here anyway).
It lives now only in my dreams.

Toblerone as every one knows is the King of Chocolates.
On one hand you have the finest Swiss milk chocolate with honey and almond nougat , but then you have the risk of severe injury from those Alp shaped chocolate pieces.

And for that extra risk and reward thrill stick it in the freezer for a couple of hours.

Mm, Toblerone, nice. Sometimes I think I'm the only person to figure out that you can break a piece off by squeezing it towards the adjoining piece, but I don't usually tell people because it's funny watching them try to bite a piece off.

Well, maybe I should have qualified Hersheys under the category of mainstream chocolate.
At least none of you are defending Cadbury, that seems to be the only chocolate your country is famous for, and that to me is some nasty stuff. I'm not a big Nestle fan either, but I think they are Swiss.
We do in fact have some fantastic gourmet chocolate companies.
In fact there's a company right down the street that makes some of the best.
Scharffen Berger
http://www.scharffenberger.com/
Excerpt from wikipedia artical:
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and wife of Prince Charles received a basket of Scharffen Berger chocolate while on a trip to San Francisco. She was so impressed with the product that she instructed her staff to have a regular shipment delivered to her back in the UK.[citation needed] Chef Julia Child reportedly once remarked that Scharffen Berger was the best chocolate she had tasted in the United States.[1]
Vosges (Actualy, these are the people that make the chili pepper bar that I like)
They also make an interesting bacon chocolate bar.

You almost had me thinking that you guys could make a nice bit of choc then, but then your dropped the bacon bomb. It's just wrong.

But do try thier Red Fire Exotic Bar: Mexican ancho & chipotle chillies + Ceylon cinnamon + dark chocolate, 55% cacao

Personally I like Cadbury's chocolate, and the Cadbury's you get in the US is not the same as what we get over here, it's grainier what you get and quite horrible, there is a chocolate bar that you get in Australia, I can't remember the name, but it had rice bits in it, and was quite delicious.

Ritter Sport is probably one of the best, but it's very hard to find now, there was so many varieties of them, and all so yummy.

yup Cadbury's in the US is totally different. Hershey actually have the license to produce Cadbury's in the US, but I think we must have pulled a swift one and given them a duff recipe. Sorry about that.

Ex-Lax Senna Chocolate Laxative – 24 tablets
At the risk of quoting Partridges dirty protest episode…..
Theres nothing quite like recieving poor customer service as I did at at a Ford dealership in Nottingham, returning home then spending the evening eating a nice Tesco Indian meal for two (Korma and Jalfrezi appear to be an awesome combination) all to yourself.
Then heading back to the dealership the following day, downing 12 of the 24 chocolate laxative tablets on the way, arriving at said dealership, popping into their customer toilets, seating yourself over a wall urinal and erupting in blaze of glory…. I even managed a wink to the recptionist on the way out…. now thats the kinda chocolate that has the capacity to truly satisfy and customer feedback at its most direct!
