Today is a big day for four UK developers, as they pool their experience and resources to form a new UK Company, BearTrap Games, in Scotland.
With the recent closures of Liverpool Game Studios (aka Psygnosis) and the closure two years ago of Realtime Worlds Ltd, it’s nice to see a new developer opening up on these shores.

Today sees the official launch of Beartrap Games – a new Scottish Games Developer, but one loaded with experience!
Born out of four award-winning and proven Directors who all share the desire to create great games that people want to play, this new developer is not just another start-up games company. Beartrap Games has the commercial drive, strategic focus and creative passion to be a major contributor to the Games Industry.
In addition to creating their own games, Creative Director Fin McGechie commented “our new company also aims to prove itself as a reliable and trusted partner for joint development projects and welcomes all approaches”.
With so much experience under their belt, Beartrap Games’ capabilities encompass all major gaming platforms and the team look forward to both demonstrating this and providing high quality games & content which are designed to meet what the market craves!
Grant Alexander, Commercial Director for Beartrap Games, adds “This is a very exciting time for the new company. Although it is very early days, we have been overwhelmed by the support given by individuals from both the Games Industry and Public Bodies. As well as developing our own IP and concepts, we are focused on finding projects and partners to work with. Great, Psychnosis made some of the games which hooked me into the gaming world, iloved Alundra, not being a Nintendo owner i was glued to this game for weeks in my teens. And destruction derby 2!!!! What a game, someone should remake or bring out a new destruction derby…… hint hint Beartrap!!
