Next Games with Gold Title Announced

July 1st, 2013 by

Games with Gold LogoFollowing on from the rather confusing, ‘is it free or a mistake?’ Fable 3 giveaway last month, the next Games With Gold title has been announced via Major Nelson’s blog:

Defence Grid: The Awakening,  originally released on PC in 2008, and normally priced at 800 Microsoft Points on XBLA, will be available from today until July 15th, when the next title becomes available the following day on July 16th.

Not to disparage the merits of the game, which has a generally favourable Metacritic rating of 82, but does this choice of title set the right tone for the remaining 11 titles to come on Games with Gold?

Don’t forget, if you are a Gold member and haven’t download Fable 3 yet, you only have a few hours to do so.

And this news also blows SiStevens’s theory right out of the water…

Having read numerous comments on different websites, people moaning about the selection of games available. I say hey it’s free and begger’s can’t be choosers. I’m happy with the selection so far. Fable 3 isn’t as good as Fable 2 but it’s not the worst game I’ve played. That award goes to Turning Point, boy that game was woeful.
