“The night was wet. Wet and hot. Max had a deadline to meet; March 2012. He’d been in development for quite some time and his fans we’re getting restless. As the sweat poured from his brow, Max could feel that something wasn’t quite right. He was going to have to disappoint. A May release would just have to do…”

Take -Two have announced that the eagerly expected Max Payne, which had a planned release date of March, would indeed be placed into RockStar’s ‘favourite’ release month of May. Fans can now expect the game to arrive on the Xbox 360 and PS3 on the 15th of May in the US, with the UK dates being the 18th of May. PC gamers having to wait until the 29th of May in the US and the 1st of June in the UK. That’s ages away right?

It was announced by Strauss Zelnick, chairman and CEO of Take-Two, who said the “short delay” was to ”ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality”.

Pistols crossed that he’s right on that.

And linked to these new levels is a competition to win a gaming headset from Plantronics.

The Plantronics GameCom 777 allows you to experience games and movies the way they were meant to be heard in virtual 7.1 Dolby® surround sound. Feel like an astronaut when you are speaking through technology developed by the same company that supplied communications hardware for the lunar landing.

WRC driver and creator of world-famous performance driving videos to stage first London ‘Gymkhana’-style drive, recreating the DiRT 3 gaming experience for real.

Ken Block, pioneer of the ‘Gymkhana’ freestyle driving video phenomenon that has received over 90 million YouTube views, is taking over London’s iconic Battersea Power Station this week and turning it into a massive stunt and obstacle course. The performance, which is being filmed for a forthcoming Gymkhana-style video, aims to recreate a sequence from the highly-anticipated racing video game DiRT 3, which will see players driving Block’s own Gymkhana THREE Ford Fiesta around the Battersea Power Station course in the game.

“It’s an incredible opportunity and an absolute first for me to run a Gymkhana-style course in the heart of London. Using Battersea Power Station as the venue totally came out of DiRT 3’s game design and makes for a brilliant backdrop,” says Ken Block. “DiRT 3’s proving such an inspiration, and obviously I’m stoked about the game’s Gymkhana content. It’s the first time where a driving game isn’t demanding I drive a specific way, it lets me hoon around the way I want. It’s something I’ve always wanted to be able to do in a game.”

DiRT 3, created by BAFTA Award-winning Codemasters Studios and coming May 24th, is the first video game to feature Gymkhana-style showpiece driving events alongside the series’ core racing experiences, such as Rally and Rallycross. Ken Block, who also drives for the Monster World Rally Team, is DiRT 3’s technical consultant.

In DiRT 3 you will compete at Gymkhana courses set in and around Battersea Power Station and other global locations. You will see your car control tested to the very limit as you drift, spin-dry and jump your way to stardom in Gymkhana events. Specially created arenas will be packed with props and you’ll be able to practice your skills, chain together moves, complete challenges or hang out online with friends.
